Focke Wulf im Details´"Gelb Elfen" (pics)

For those of you who own or have seen the book “Focke Wulf im Detail” by Jens Nissen, you are familiar with “Gelb 11”…the subject of the book and the only completely restored FW190A-8 in a German Museum. Friday morning I traveled to Hannover and visited the Hannover-Laatzen Luftharte Museum. I was the only patron there all morning, and met the curator, Dr. Wilhelm Crome. Herr Crome was kind enough to allow me access to the cockpits of both the Wurger and the Bf 109G-2 on display. What an incredible morning!!! Here’s a few pics of the retired Eagles in their fully restored glory.
Cheers,
JK

Beautiful bird aren’t they? I have to visit Dayton again soon…[sigh]

Nice bird’s - they sure knew how to make em’ pretty. Thanks for sharing the photos.

I had the chance to visit that museum a few years ago, but couldn’t get access to the interiors of the birds. Your pics bring back pleasant memories.

Regards, Rick

Beautiful machines. I agree with thehannaman, I need to get to the USAF museum while my shaky ol’ legs will still carry me around the place. I will need to take about 2 truckloads of film with me. Thanks for sharing your pictures. [alien]

Y’All are most welcome! I’ll be putting up a ton of “Walkaround” pics over at ScaleWarbirds.com in the next few weeks (I rotate home this weekend) including cockpit photos of both the FW 190 and the Bf 109. I’m glad people are enjoying these pics, it was an incredible experience!!
Cheers,
JK

Whoa!
Jk, what an experience!! I’m envious.
It was wonderful of Dr. Crome to allow access to the cockpits - I’m sure that not everybody is allowed such access.
Were either aircraft posted to operational units? Man - to think that there were THOUSANDS of these things made - and sadly, so very few remain today.
