While waiting for my airbrush to be delivered, I decided that I HAVE to have something to do ! Since I’m hopelessly addicted to photoetch, I needed something to fit the bill. And then it came to me . . .
NIGHTFIGHTERS !
Both the Trimaster single seat and Dragon two seat Me 262s contain PE parts, and I have an Eduard set coming for the Ta 154. The Eduard set and the decals for my Fw 190 are due to arrive by tomorrow (Wednesday). The kits will all have added wiring and hydraulic lines.
I think this is going to be a FUN project for me !
Nice set of projects your going to get yourself involved in. Hmmm, new camera, I believe still a rented computer, now a new airbrush. You got yourself some new hardware there Bill.
Pix, watch out on that 154, she is a real tail sitter. Stance combined with extended tail really add up on that one. I can’t wait to see what you do to it.
Thank you Model Grandpa, lerxst1031, Joe, yardbird, Chuck, Swanny, pingtang, Rick, and Frank !
Chuck - with the exception of the camera, I wish I didn’t have to replace things that I already had. I wonder how much life is left in my compressor now . . .
Swanny - there’s quite a bit of room in the nacelles for weight. I bought a large sheet of lead flashing, so I can make any size/shape weights I need. There are some profile photos that show the tail sitting much lower than the gear allows. I may shorten the oleos on the main gear legs to reflect this. I started this kit years ago, and the wings are assembled. The outer panels are shimmed to the nacelles, which prevents the kit part’s anhedral.
Here are some pics that show the differences between the Trimaster and Dragon boxings of the Me 262s.
The Trimaster PE parts are on the left.
These are Trimaster’s white metal parts. The metal’s “grain” makes the surface appear much rougher than they really are.
And these are the Dragon kit’s injection-molded parts that replace Trimaster’s white metal and photoetched parts.
Dragon’s parts are molded in a softer plastic, and have a few surface flaws. The in-progress pics will show the differences more clearly, especially once the paint is applied.
