All three aircraft got their washes and dullcotes this weekend. There’s still a lot of work needed (drybrush RLM 02 wheel wells & gear legs, add hydraulics, make radar antennas from wire & tube, etc.), but at least all the drying time for everything is done.
The canopies will be posed open, and the Me 262s have had their slats removed and opened.
Dragon 1/48 Me 262B-1a/U1
Trimaster 1/48 Me 262A-1a Nachtjager
ProModeler 1/48 Ta 154
Thanks for letting me share the progress with you ! Won’t be much longer now till they’re finished.
Thank you Vintage, Lucien, 9x19mm, Rick, Joe, tigerman, and Dave !
I’m glad you like these three “ladies of the evening” so far !
Progress on the finishing touches (landing gear, antennas) will hopefully go quickly. I want to finish these this week so I can start a few more ! [(-D]
This has been a fun project, and I’m a little sad that it’s almost finished. Then again, as soon as I finish these, I get to start more kits ! I’m thinking of Russian fighters. I have a few (Yak 7 & two 9s, MiG 3, I-153). I’m also thinking of building LTD’s 1/48 IAR 80, a Romanian fighter. It’s a crude kit of a beautiful bird, and will need scratchbuilding. I found some great drawings at a Russian site, so it may be “doable” at this point.
Absolutely stunning! Shich has been the “most fun” kit so far? Which has given you the least headaches? The most?
Anything new you’ve learned from this build?
Those are some great looking planes and the camo is awesome. Like someone said earlier, they’re inspiring. When I see work like yours I can’t wait to get home to my shop and get at it.
mpartric - there’s nothing like painting Luftwaffe schemes to get your airbrushing chops.
mucker - the Me 262s are my 13th & 14th builds from the Trimaster/DML/Dragon molds, so there really aren’t any surprises left for me with the kit. I don’t get headaches from kits, but I get chances to try some different solutions to challenges. The least co-operative part of these builds has been the Ta 154’s decals. The wingwalks fractured into small segments, even after I applied a brush coat of Future to each while they were still on the sheet. Aligning them and keeping them straight required the most work. As for learning, I now know what the cockpit of a Ta 154 looks like.
Fine work, as usual. I don’t remember seeing the C-47. Is it done? You may have answered this before but, what do you do with all these models when you are done? You have to have quite a collection.
After I join the wings to the fuselage, I can begin painting the C-47. Unfortunately, my OD paint went “goopy” (scientific terminology). As there are no hobby shops within walking distance of my home, I have to wait until I can place an order to Squadron. I’m strapped pretty tight financially right now, so I don’t know when I’ll get it.
I have about 200 aircraft displayed in a couple rooms. I have some unused shelves and brackets in the basement, so I can add them when Irun out of space.
