Floh, floh progress, but progress all the same!

Here the latest on my diminutive DFW T28 Floh (Flea)…

This is the 1/48 Eduard kit. One of their earlier offerings, still showing the obvious ‘marks’ of the short-run industry Eduard was still part of less than 10 years ago. In particular, thick, heavy sprues and quite a bit of flash. The kit comes with a bit of film for the instrument panel (that can barely be seen once the fuselage halves are put together) and a fret of PE that I’d say make things much more complicated than ‘straighforward’ plastic bits would have. The inside details, seat, floor are all PE; no plastic in there at all (except the few little bits I added/replaced)… I’m no great fan f PE as you can gather…!

As you can see the fuselage halves are now joined (quite a gap to file down/fill in) and the other major pieces are cleaned up. The struts will certainly be replaced 'cause they will be hard to get out of the sprues without damage.

Still, I’m having some fun and that’s all that matters![:)]

More soon!

MAN!! ive never heard/ seen one of those friend!! what does the finished bird look like? the pic is a little confusing to me, but thats because i’ve never seen one i guess. interesting to say the least. later.

That is really going back a ways in Eduards catalog. They have made a lot of progress. Really looking forward to the finished build.

Regards, Rick

I’d like to see the complete animal also as I’ve not heard of that one. The way it’s all laid out, it looks a bit , granted a teeney bit, like an AT-ST.

unique bird. looking forward to the completion.

Here’s a link to a completed model, but not Eduard’s…

Good to see you’re making progress on your Floh, never mind the obstacles [^]. If I recollect an earlier post of yours, this is your second or third model of it, right? Now I understand why: that thing looks weird and wonderful from any angle [:D][tup]. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, Filibert, I built the Flea twice already, both times from a 1/72 vacuform kit. Those were easier than this £%*@#$ Eduard kit!

Now that is a neat looking little plane! I can’t wait to see how you finish it Domi!

You are certainly progressing well on a very difficult kit… reminds me of the Delta2 kit I done a while back… trimming and sanding all the flash, but that’s what makes it magic! [;)]

Thanks for the peek, DJ, that’s going to be a killer build, but it’s in the right hands! [:)]

Take care,
Frank

that is truely a wild looking plan friend!! unique and interesting subject. later.

I don’t want to hitchhike this thread, but would you be referring to the 1/72 Maquette Fairey Delta 2? I recently bought that kit as a possible future build for the prototypes GB. I have noticed it is a bit of a dog… Have you actually made any progress or (I shudder to think) even finished it? If so, I sure would like to see/hear anything you can share. I’m going to need it[:)].
