Flight of Mercy: PAF C-130H

This is my model of Philippine Air Force C-130H #4726. The plane, along with 2 of her sisters and several other Hercs from the global community, are now engaged in mercy flights to Philippine towns and cities devastated by Typhoon Haiyan.

This is the 1/200 Hasegawa C-130 kit. Got it from a friend several months ago for about $2, missing a box, instruction sheets and decals. I started work on the kit about two months ago. For this build I detailed the cockpit using scratchbuilt parts, covered up the open windows with clear sprue smoothed flush. I dropped the wing trailing edges, and to add some drama, I opened up the forward door, opened up a port engine and sponson and scratchbuilt the engine and other details. The decals are homemade. A fitting tribute, I hope, to the brave flight crews helping the victims of a killing typhoon.

Very, very nice!

Very well done. I like it.

Thank you gents for the compliments!

That’s awesome!I really like the camo color scheme,

A fitting tribute indeed! Very nice work there! I always love the C-130, it was one of my favorite rides. I did not know that the PAF used the Europe One camo scheme on their Hercs.

Now that’s a really nice build.

Thanks everyone!

Stik,

The PAF Hercs have been sporting the Euro I for quite some time now (at least one sports a supergloss version of the Euro I).

It makes sense. I imagine that the scheme is very effective over the jungle terrain there.

This is great! Until the photo with the match book, I would have sworn it was a much larger scale.

Thanks a lot Dre!

Uber Uber Nice!

That is an awe inspiring build!

Any close ups of the engine or cockpit? I can’t believe how small it is!!!

Thank you John and Chris!

Chris,

Heres a pic of the cockpit while in progress. Im sure I got more pics of this as well as the painted cockpit but I cant seem to find the SD Card the image is stored in. I should find it one of these days.

Holy smokes! When I got to the matchbook my jaw dropped. Nice work, Allan, the quality gives me something to strive for.

John

Thanks John! Much appreciated.

Very nice indeed Allan!!! Are you going to enter that in the Nationals next week?

Excellent work. The camo is beautiful.
