Flesh mix for people of colour

I’ve just bought a set of 4 * 1/7 scale England soccer players, issued earlier this year by Airfix. My problem is that two of these players are people of colour, and, having last done a person of colour in 1998, when I built the Tamiya 1/35 Pibber, I’ve fogotten how to do ‘black’ flesh. My preferred media for flesh are:

oils
Citadel/ Warhammer acrylics
Humbrol enamels

in that order.

Any ideas, people?

Chris.

As you know, the range of color varies from caucasian white to ebony.
What I did a couple years ago was to use a base of burnt sienna. The shadows were van dyke brown and the highlights were a patina of raw sienna. This was gladiator in full helmet so I did not have to work on facial highlights.

Hi Chris, I found this on a painting website for small metal figurines:

Thanks, ajlafleche and boybuddho! that’s just the sort of stuff I was looking for, and gives me some ideas to work with. The figures I’m painting are 1/7 scale, not 25mm, but the basic principles would seem to be the same. Just a question of adding more contrast and detail, and practice, practice, practice (so what’s new?[:D])

Chris.
