Anybody know whether the Germans used their Flak Vierling’s against infantry? I am working on the Tamiya kit and it looks like from the kit itself, and photos, that the gun could be depressed to fire level but I couldn’t find anything on a site about it. I know that the Germans often used AA guns as anti-tank weapons, the 88, but the quad 20mm guns also seem doable against infantry, soft skins, or light armour. Any of you guys know anything. A URL or photo would be great.
Your hunch is correct. I’ve seen photos where the Quad Flak 38 is part of a trench line. It’s obviously the crux of a strongpoint on the German line. You got the gun, you use the gun!
Sorry, can’t help you with the question, but just wanted to say [#welcome] to FSM! [:)]
why not? would be something I’d definately NOT want to get hit by! But if necessity dictates it, fire away!
I concur. I think the Germans used it against infantry. My grandfather was in the war and he still talks about all the stuff that got thrown at him.
