FlaK 43 - 1/35, GreatWall/LionRoar L3505 vs Trumpeter #02311

Hi,

the LionRoar L3505 Anti Aircraft gun arrived at my LHS a couple of months ago, a very nice kit with beautiful detail. Turned brass barrel and spent cases, photoetched gunshield and resin tires.
Parts breakdown of the gun itself is straightforward with the exception of the gunshield which comprises + 50 photoetched parts. All the way from the shield itself down to lifting lugs the size of this o.
I have been struggling with the shield for a while now and actually ordered a replacement since I made a mockery of the first.

And then I stumbled over Trumpeters Item # 02311.
To my surprise the parts breakdown is almost identical and the basic shape of the parts is extremely close.
Not identical, just very close.
Do you guys know about any ties between the to, are they using the same research or engineering team?

Anyway it is going to be very interesting to see how they build in comparison.
The gun of the LionRoar kit is 50% done which means that the Trumpeter kit is ahead in the game since I still have to do the shield of the LionRoar

As always

I don’t, but I thought that Lion Roar worked with Dragon and produced the PE for their kits. Sorry if I’m totally wrong, I just recall reading it somewhere, or so I thought.

Quick update,

LionRoar

Trumpeter

Gun Shield, as you can see I have bent the LionRoar the wrong way arround…

The carriage, the Resin wheel is from the LionRoar offering

LionRoar’s turned metal barrel is obviouesly way superior to Trumpeter’s…

…which is not bad at all…

As allways
