Fixed wing plane ID please?

A friend is in DC at the air & spacce museum & took this pic. She’s wondering what the make of the plane is. I’m sure there’s someone here who knows this one!! :slight_smile:

Sorry, folks. here’s the plane.

I believe it is a Sikorsky S-43

searches Google

I beleive you’re right!! Thank you, bigfoot01!!!

i think so too though not sure about that hatch forward of the cockpit. the museum says it isn’t on display and this picture looks like a restoration area.

S-43 / JRS-1 from Pear Harbour, more info on the particular bird here;

There is a kit of the S-43 available (I have one in my stash), so if you really like it you can build one (or build it for your friend!).

Waynec- In fact it was in the restoration area.

Milairjunkie- Thanks for the link! I’ll be sure she looks at it.

Don- Thank you very much for the offer! I’ll ask her if she’s interested. The “she” in question is my girlfriend, an avid history buff, especially of the Civil War & WWII eras. She became particularly enthralled after seeing the Enola Gay finally in person, so I may build one of those for her.
