Five, 1/700 F-4 Phantoms

The big F-4 is the 1/72 Airfix F-4 Phantom that can be built as any version of the Phabulous Phighter, B, C,D or E. The little ones are 1/700 scale and are all hand painted. I say I just dance to a different tune. My wife describes my actions in a less complimentary manner. [alien]

did you detail the cockpits on those suckers?[:D] Just kidding. Nice work.

Looks like a momma bird guarding her little chicks. Great paint jobs, by the way.

Beautiful job and tiny. Bonus points for 2 demo teams. I have a dream–a super detailed type collection of the history of militay aviation in 1/144. I love this pic. I think I’ll save it as proof to Mom there are smaller scales!!! It would make a cool desktop. Stone henge is getting boring, with your permission??

umm …wow.

They look great!! Nice work.

Just tell your wife that it’s better than seven hundred, 1/5 F-4’s.

stinger

Nice work on the F-4’s. good looking aircraft regardless of scale.

Regards. Rick

Tankmaster: Did I detail the cockpits? Don’t reach in there and pull the little yellow and black handle. You might be in for a surprise.

Cassibill Permission granted to use the photos.

All Thanks for the kind words.

What I like about the little Phantoms is that the paint job looks to scale. The colors look the right shade for the scale, and the paint doesn’t look “loaded up”

Dave

Now, did you paint the Blue Angels titles too…?? In any case, all look great from over here!

did you use your own hair to make tiny brushes to do that with[:-,].
Great F4 family you have there, put em up in the guest room.

I am currently working on an Essex (WWII). Any tips on painting aircraft in tiny scale would be much appreciated. I’ve done some before but they don’t look anything like yours!

Awesome work Bill! I love the way they look. Great job!

djmodels Did I paint the Blue Angels Titles? I painted the US Navy under the wings and on the fuselage sides as well as the position # on the tail. I did NOT do the name “Blue Angels” on the nose.

razordws Tips on painting small scale. I used a 0000 sable brush, jewelers eye magnifiers, a bright light set very close and a steady hand.

I was an imagery analyst or photo interpreter in the US Air Force for 14 years of my 21 year career. When I took my annual physical and did the eye test, I could consistantly read 2 or 3 lines smaller than what was considered 20/20 vision. I would look at a photo and describe minute details. When others looked at the same photo, they would accuse me of exagerating because they couldn’t see the same things. Note the B&W photo in my signature block. The good Lord has blessed me with very good eyes.

Thanks for the kind words on my “Baby Phantoms” [alien]

Wow, amazing! I’d need a microscope to see something that small, let alone paint it!

Mark

Thanks!!! I’ve gotten Some odd looks directed at my laptop during class when I’m taking notes. Either they can’t figure out what what they’re seeing or they are trying to reconcile a girl with fighter jets. Have they not noticed the amout of camo my wardrobe consists of. I want to hear what they have to say??? Should be good.
