Doing better, almost done, but only one day before contest, the color pattern of the camo was too bright, taking away the dark yellow, but by appling a thin coat of dark yellow far from the models surface, it dosen’t cover it intierly. good idea!
I can’t wait to see some photo’s of the completed kit.
Speaking of photos, I got some good news and bad news.
Good news is I took images of the essembly of the tank and I fix the photo problem, I can post them now.
Bad news, Camo was a failer, again and I didn’t even made it to contest, I was too late, better luck next year.
Now for the moment you’ll all been waiting for TIGER 1 PHOTOS ARE FINALLY HERE.
Here’s the kit, academy 1/35 Tiger 1.
I thought painting was before assemble, here’s the time I though that tigers were available olive green.
before paint
In a “home made” paint booth
After drying (first image, I don’t sugest doing this)
Fortunatly I repainted it and work on the wheels.
There’s more where that came from, but tell me what you think of for now?
Looks like you are on your way to your first Tiger.
Here are a few comments.
Looks like you have overly thinned your paint. I am not sure if the rough texture of the sides of the hull is intentional. If not, then you might want to sand the surface a little bit before proceeding to re-painting. You could try to add a few more coats until the original plastic color or the previously applied paint are fully covered.
As for the road wheels, you may want to use a fine pointed marker or a “sharpie” to color the rubber portions, next time. It is easier to handle than most brushes and therefore would allow you to make cleaner lines.
I hope that you will not take my comments the wrong way. Keep us updated.
May I remin you that these photos have been takend 2 months ago, the tiger today is almost completed, but a huge set back by the camo made alot of problems, thats why its at hold, for now.
[#oops]Just ignore my comments if that is the case. I was under the impression that you wanted some comments on the pictures that you posted when you wrote the following caption:
I guess it would be difficult for us to comment on the the Tiger as it is now (if that was the intention in the first place) if we are not seeing it as it is now. [;)]
Like Steve said mate, take your time & do some research. Typing in “Tiger 1” into the google bar will bring up so much stuff. I have found this site to be one of the best for Tiger info: www.fprado.com/armorsite/main.html This will also indicate PzAbt’s (both regular & SS) & where they fought. It also has pretty good info on colour schemes, numbering & markings. Actung Panzer & missing-lynx also has a stack of info. I know it can be a b#$%h sometimes having to spend time on the net, instead of modelling, but it’s time well spent.
Its alright Dwight, The comments are good and that’s what I wanted, so take back your appolagy, I just wanted to remind you about the build, to help out, I post the photos at the earlier forums to show what stage I was before, you’ll see.
Please post more comments of the pictures above, so that next tiger (since the tiger was such a common german tank, ths is problaly not the last) will be beter, and better.
Here’s some mor pictures.
The body with most of the wheels.
doing three steps at a time, wheels, back, and turret.
Remeber that image I wanted to copy, here it is.
Big progress was done that week.
What do you think?
Alright let’s leave the past behing, If you do want to see the step by step of this tank, then just look back at first to last forum of the build, feel free to tell your comments.
Here’s the tiger looks like today, its build is on hold for now before it drives me crazy on the camofloge.
I’ll metion this later, when I start again, Please tell any comments or advice.
Alright enought fooling around, I’m sick of letting the tiger go to waste, so I’ll just wash those thick paint layers with easy off and start fresh, again and go to first plan, putting the tiger with the czeck building turn into a german or even ruissian building!
These last pictures look great espaecially to your first posts. Some hints on camo would be either to cut painters tape (the blue stuff) into patterns and then spray on either olivegrun (light green), then repeat the taping and spray rotbraun (red brown) or you can use silly putty as a masking agent as well. This Tiger would be perfect for Kursk. Then you can enter it into the Kursk group build. Keep up the great work.
Best Regards,
Mark
