I am going to buil;d my first tank soon and i want it to be WWII German tank. What scale do you guys suggest? Any tips at all regarding tanks and weathering and such would be much appreciated. Thanks in advane.

1/35 is readily available and easy to manipulate.
all you need to do is decide if you want to do a diorama for it as well then just do your weathering off of that ( use the environment , it’s effects on that vehicle plus battle wear ). you’ll turn out a good project just take your time. Most importantly have fun and don’t get frustrated with it…

I also would suggest 1/35, more stuff available in that scale.
As far as weathering goes, once you’ve decided on the kit and the “scene”, we’ll be able to help you out a little bettter.
I would go with 1/35 also, easy scale to work with and more aftermarket parts available. Can you imagine doing single tracks in 1/72? Of course modelers who do that scale will undoubtedly disagree with me. [:)]

I would also agree on 1/35 scale. Now, if it’s your 1st tank, I would suggest doing a Tamiya Panther. The newer DML Dragon kits are also nice.

If you really want to be able to detail and build it right 1:1 scale is the best or just go for the 1:35. LOL

I meant to add get the Tiger I late model by Tamiya. However since you decided on the Panther, Tamiya’s G series are nice kits, just got one with p/e parts. The Dragon kits come with single tracks which make for an easier sag look. Tough choice, but show us your progress. [:p]
Try Tamiya Panther G Steel Wheel Version. It comes with all parts also for the Rubber Wheel Version so you can still choose which type to model. If you have a deep pocket, go for the better kit and get the latest from Tamiya (the ones with P/E parts). All are in 1/35 scale. These have the detailed rubber tracks but Tamiya has already issued the indy track links for the Panther.

dont bother with the kits with PE zimmerit its just the Tamiya kit with a Eduard PE zimmerit set wich you could buy chaeper on its own and there not very good
plus the Steel wheel or Late Panther never had zimmerit
I agree with Captain Caveman here. The Late and Steel Wheel Versions of the Panther never (or rarely) had zimmerit coating. The Tamiya Panther with P/E, I believe is not the Later Version.
