first pic of p-40 updated!!

Yes, guys, I know. I’m going to sand the brushed paint smooth or smoother and use an old Binks airbrush to repaint. The airbrush belongs to my dad and I bought a compressor for this and other small projects. ( ie. keeping my tires inflated) The kit is Academy p-40c in 1/48th. This is a good little kit. I just hope I can save the details and paint. I don’t have any airbrush experience so wish me luck. PLEASE[:)]

Gee I shouda put aluminum as a base coat before sanding. More prep to do before I can paint.

Good luck! I’m sure you’ll do fine, looks good so far.

First time I used an airbrush I shot circles and squigglies on a piece of cardboard for a while - just to get the feel for it.

Im with Swanny I to did that. It helps…and just remember theres almost nothing you can do to it that cant be redone. Good Luck. Im sure you’ll do fine! Please post update pics when you re-finish it.

you guys may laugh…
but when my 74 year old grandmother taught me to use an airbrush thats exactly what i did for two weeks. (she used to teach classes on airbrushing everything from posters to motorcycle tanks [:D] ). Another piece of advice if i may…save up the money and buy a good airbrush and compressor and take care of them, they will last a lifetime, and you will see a big difference in the quality of what you can do.

Looking good. Keep us updated!

You’ll do fine…and like the others said, practice practice practice.

Best of luck
Steve

Hello Fred here. I have been airbrushing for a little over thirty years and there are several things to remember. 1st don’t get in a hurry , 2nd practice, 3rd practice and 4th did I mention practice.
Also, when you feel you have developed your talent suffiecientltyxxxx(well enough) get rid of the air compressor and get a 20 pound CO2 bottle. The first one may cost $75.00 or so and when it is empty take it back and exchange it for a full one for less than $20.00. The advantages are, no noise, no moisture, and more control over air pressure at the tip. Need any more advise feel free to let it be known. Fred Amos [:D][:D][:D]
