First PE pit and camo paint job*with pics*

Looking good Priest…but beware the Frito’s!..they leave nasty fingerprint marks on a finish…not that I’ve…err…experienced my self or anything…[:D]

Keep those progress pics coming.

Um, priest? not fair. Your stuff’s looking better than mine. And you just started! LOL nah man keep up the good work, the camo came out pretty good. One thing I will say is that it seems like there’s a few sharp angles. all the spits ive seen have the camo pretty much rounded everywhere.

Hi Priest, Looks good from this side of the pond lol. How did you do the camo? Did you cut out the camo in tape? Another method that gives some good results is to make the shapes with cheapo playdoh. Some of the pics are a little dark. Try taking the photos in a window or using as many spots on the subject as you can.

Keep up the good work.

…Guy

For the camo I used a pencil and eyeballed the camo on the plane from the kit supplied drawings, then I used real thin strips of masking tape to trace the pencil marks, then filled in the gaps with larger bits of tape. time consuming but seemed to turn out allright.

Max I dont think its running better than your stuff, but I am pleased with how it is coming out. huh imagine that, patience is a virtue after all. ya I noticed the sharp edges as well, seems to be stemming from my lack of masking ability and not staying on the lines. I have not yet decided if it is bad enough to where it should be corrected

Priest, yeah you’re definately leaps and bounds above that first mustang you built!! You’re right about all that patience and virtue lol. It does take a lot of that. As for the sharp edges, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. They aren’t too bad, plus now you’ve got an excuse to get another british kit! (But honey, I messed up the last one, SEEEEEEE?!)

For masking, try using “Blu-tack” or even silly putty. I did that on the P-38 I painted, and it turned out pretty dang good.

I may have to try the other way, this was labor intensive and honestly I really enjoy the tedius parts of modeling but this a little too far. what is blu tack. also I think I am kinda cheating on the credit-o-meter I finished a P-40 in between the mustang and this I just got so juiced about working on the spitfire when the photo etch came I kinda neglected to take pictures and post them. I will have to do that this week
