First Model, Panzer IV

Just thought I’d share some photos of my first completed model. My 8 year old son an I have been working on it, on and off for some time. I know that it is not historically accurate, and probally leaves a bit to be desired, but we are pretty happy with our first go at it.

Uh Oh, some how the photo’s got cut in half after I posted, they were fine in preview mode. Sorry.
Bob

[:)] Looks good! Don’t worry about the photos appearing to be cut in half, they really aren’t. If you click on the photo is still shows the whole image. Also, if you refresh the page, they will appear on your screen as they should. I’ve noticed that if I look at an image when I post some pics, then close that image, all my photos appear cut in half as well. It’s just an anomoly with your web browser.

Great start. I wish my 1st looked that good.

It has a good look, although you installed the gun’s mantlet plate backward. (the coax should be on the other side)

Try hitting the “Refresh” button next time that happens; sometimes the HTML code doesn’t come through correctly the first (or second!) time.

Hey, nice 1st model! Looks a heckuva lot better than my 1st! Is that an F1 or F2 Pzkw IV? Looks like an F1 muzzle brake.

Is that the Italeri 1/35th? Pretty nice for the first effort. Mine was an unpainted and built in one night Monogram Pz. IV. I didn’t care if it was accurate or not, I was in heaven. You’ve caught the armor bug. Welcome to the dark side.

hey bob–[:D]-- nice job on the first build— treasure the moments---- they grow up so fast-- !!!-- treadwell[:P]

The Pz.Kpfw. IV F1 had the short barrel. This is a F2.

Thank You all for the words of encourgement, yes I do believe that I now have caught the Armor bug. I’ll try to be a little more accurate the next time. Thanks for all of the input, and thank you all for explaining the photo problem.

Looks fine for a first attempt. If your young son stays at the hobby then you have given him a wonderful gift worth a lot more than the few dollwars the kit cost.

Good luck, and I hope you have a wonderful future in this great hobby.

Regards,

Terry Burke.

Oops! My bad . . . yeah, you’re right, I got my "F’s"mixed up. The F1 had the short, low-caliber gun, the KwK 37 L/24; the F2 had the longer KwK 40 L/43. Thanks for the correction . . .

Look’s pretty good to me for a first build, well done to you and your son[:D]

My daughter who’s 13 is just getting into the hobby which is great although we do tend to fight over who’s building what[(-D]

Your first model turned out pretty good. I made the mistake on doing my first model, by going with one of the hardist kits. The Tiger 1 with Zimm, but I turned out ok.

looks really great for your first kit. and it is nice to see your son is getting in on the hobby . i am doing the same thing with my son as my dad did with me passing on something fun to do .
