The first NATO-interoperable Hungarian Gripen fighter has made its maiden flight today in Sweden.
The maiden flight of the first Gripen aircraft - destined for Hungary - took place today 16 February 2005 at Saab’s facility in Linköping, Sweden. The aircraft, which was flown by a test pilot from Saab, was painted in grey with Hungary’s national insignia on the tail before its first flight.
SAAB keeps making those interesting looking planes. Definitely can see the lineage from the Vippens. Like to see these planes being being designed & built, reminds everyone that interesting advanced aircraft are being made outside of the US & Russia.
Yes it truly is a beautiful aircraft. I think it looks a lot better nowdays with the gray scheme, than in the late 80:s, with the yellow and blue markings. Wiacong: I agree, you can defenetly see the heritage from Viggen.
