Ive got an idea for my first diorama. In my spares box I have a left over Tamiya Panther turret. I was thinking of doing the emplaced turret in a strong in the Gothic Line. Thaught of maybe a command/observation bunker on one side and a machine gun bunker on the other with trenches connecting them all. What would be the best product to create a mountainious terrain that I could carve trenches in?
Make sure you research those pantherturms to see which kind you would like to build-some of the turrets were just battle damaged tanks, or taken from tanks; others were purpose built, and lacked some of the features found on tanks.
Other than that, you can scult in just about any medium, but syrofoam would probably be the easiest, as EasyMike noted
I should have been more specific. There is the light weight packing style foam blocks, the more dense insulation foam panels, and the denser florist style foams and foams in a can. Which is best for carving? I have never seen the “Mountains in a Minute”, do you have a link?
I prefer the foam blocks of “Florist Foam” for large areas though… It’s easy to carve, but I also have used the MinM to make rock molds and then the rock faces to put on the styrofoam bases… The insulation foam, I never bothered with…
