First Diorama Idea

Greetings folks!

I’ve only gotten back into modelling in the last few weeks, have a couple under my belt, and I just finished an M3A2 ODS Bradley for an armor weekend group build. It’s DML’s 1/72 kit, and although I do almost exclusively aircraft, this kit is a real gem!

Anyhoo, I digress. One of my reference pics is this:

And I took some photos of it against a picture of the Arizona desert I downloaded:

What would be the best way to simulate this if I wanted to do a diorama of it? Thanks for the help!

If you are talking about a Hull down position as in the first photo, best bet is to build the ground up with styrofoam and cut the position out. Cover the ground material with dirt or any other material you desire.

ewc, great idea and please, post more pics of this subject when done.

Like, wow, man. That’s cool.

When sculpting desert by all means use foam but cover it in spack filler and then aply sand and stuff at adds durability and it looks far more realistic than just sand on foam
