Be gentle, it has been a while. I know the paint, parts, decals, etc, accuracies are way off, but I just threw these together to try out some glues I had bought, try out some basic weathering, and realize my eyes are not what they used to be! [:D] They are 1/72. So here they are!
The fishing line is there because this kit was missing a lot of parts including the gear, so it hangs. The canopy is the worst fit I have ever seen!
I tried using a little silver to sim the green paint being worn.
This was my favorite I think. Different subject…just “plane” cool. Canopy fit was not good either, but not as bad as the 202.
Here’s an extra one (1/35) for the armor guys. I started this about 20 years ago. It was the last model I started before my hiatus. Not finished but I really like the German stuff and I am fascinated by the 234 variants! I have a Puma in the stash!

640…got it! Thanks for being kind too! [:)] I’m really starting to get the bug now. I ordered some more stuff from Squadron the other day as I am coming to a halt with the builds due to lack of paint. I actually used some REALLY old paint on those models. Threw away quite a few bottles in the process of checking them all out as I went along. I also ordered some Future (Pledge) for my canopies and setting/sealing decals, bought a bottle of Windex (does the blue tint hurt an airbrush?) to clean the AB when I start using it, and asked the wife to pick me up a thing of hairspray! I got the funny look on the last one!
Eagle90- those look great for your return to the hobby. If you haven’t yet looked into one, try one of Dragon’s 234-series kits as they’ll simply blow your mind as you assemble the suspension. They really are sweet (and there’s a ton of aftermarket stuff to make them even better!).
No worries, trust me, we have all been there. It would be long before your giving tips to someone new to the site. I don’t use Windex myself, but i believe a number of people do, so you should be ok with that. Sound slike your egtting in the right sort of supplies. The hairsrapy is something i have yet to try, but it can give some great results.
Those builds look OK to me. I use craft acrylics and clean the AB with Windex. I follow that up with a little distilled water to wash out the ammonia in the Windex. I’ve not had any problems with using it. The ammonia can damage some parts on ABs, that’s why I follow it with Distilled water. I use the DW for thinning the craft acrylics too. If you got a funny look on the hairspray, ask her to get you a few of the 4 grade sanding sticks that they use on their fingernails. There is some great stuff in that section of the supermarket. I stop there every time I’m in there. I don’t pay attention to the women staring at me.
Thanks Dre. I will check out the Dragon kits. Don’t know what it is about the 234 and its variants, they are just cool. I’m really into the WW II German armor, they had some good equipment.

When you say craft acrylics, we mean like the ones you can get at A.C. Moore, Michaels, and those type stores? I never thought to use those acrylics, but hey, they are acrylics. I bet they are cheaper too! And I have many nail filing tools. You can’t bet them! There are tons of useful “tools” to be had in this hobby…but that could be another thread in itself!

Eagle90 - I get the acrylics from A.C.Moore. They are very cheap, usually about $1 to $1.35 each compared to the model brands which run $2.35 or more per bottle. They always have coupons too. I signed up and they send me coupons every week. They usually send 1 for 40% off of 1 item and/or 1 for 20% off your total. Sometimes they have super sales. They have had a couple of times recently where they had 3 for 1$. Even if you just get the basic colors, that’s a deal. I once got 30 bottles for $10. They have so many colors and brand names that it takes a while to look through them all. Those acrylics have worked for me. I’m learning how to mix my own colors too. I get a gallon bottle of Distilled water at Giant for $.79 and it lasts a long, long time.
Good info there. We just got an A.C. Moore in not too long ago. I’m thinking I need to go tomorrow! Grabbing the basics for those prices is a great deal. Any brand names you suggest? Hey, maybe they will even have an Optivisor!
