Some may have seen some of the other post I have threaded, if not, its been approx. 10 years (I was a kid)since I have built a model. I remember…oh no those are not brush marks, thats wind burn from the speed of the aircraft! Anyhow I have decided to build again, I think. This one fought me the whole time.
I built the dauntless. First time with an airbrush too. I also manage to removed the star the was imprinted/stamped into the body.
Anyhow, before you guys look at this I’d like you to know that my blue painters tape got outta control and never will I leave the canopy as it is. Im looking for a better way currently. Oh and the rear guns came unglued due to a 2 yr old girl. ill stop there. Kids… Hopefully I can return it later to the proper position.
Welcome back to the hobby. Nice first build. Like the previous poster recommended, get yourself some Tamiya tape. You might see something similar at your local big box hardware store, but it’s not the same. Look forward to more.
Thanks! Now for my next trick, I will pick up a model later in town. I am gonna do some more research on which may be an easier build. 1/72 or 1/48. Thanks for the replies!
Welcome back to the hobby. Don’t worry too much about flaws and mistakes; everybody makes them (well thats my story and I’m sticking to it…). Have fun (and it sounds like you did) and say to yourself that the next one will be better. And the one after that, a contest winner. A good start and I’m sure that you’ll pick up lots of tips as you browse through the forums here.
I prefer 1/72 for the smaller a/c and 1/144 for the transports and bombers. I’d try a couple of each (72 and 48) and go from there. If you’re gonna do 1/72 you really can’t go wrong with anything newer Tamiya. Although they’re somewhat pricier, they go together like a dream.
I find 1/48 more rewarding. More parts, more detail. Bigger in the end and you can eventually get into photo-etched parts…mmmm. I always thought 1/72 fighters were a rainy day build. I’m looking to get into 1/32 and larger.
