SoMM Ken:
Great work on the seats, hope the GG works out for you. It may not be quite as strong as superglue but it always worked pretty well for me.
And congrads on the giant Skyraider- wish I got birthday gifts like that!

Hi Dom,
I swear you know how to make me laugh every time! [:D] Too funny!
And thank you for the compliments!

Hi Cliff,
I checked out the toughness of the glue and it seems to be holding up quite well. Thank you again for recommending it. I really appreciate it. And thank you for the compliments! Yes, I am very grateful for being lucky enough to receive gifts like the Skyraider for my birthday. It is pretty cool.

Im gonna have to dig out my tomcat cockpit and show you the similarities. Honestly its creeping me out lol.
Small update. White paint is to check seams. Still trying to decide on a paint scheme. Ive got a choice of 2. Overall dark sea blue (how they were painted after their first rotation back to NZ) or 3 tone navy camo (How they were delivered)
You can see ive added to the weathering on the prop.

Mike: Looking good there Mike, the prop is really cool! I’ll have to give your technique a whirl (sorry).
Looking good, Mike! But let’s get that bench cleaned up or you might lose that nice Corsair. [whstl]
Buzz (I’ll use this to avoid confusion with our other Ken)
…but it is clean [:|]…
lol i joke. I have to have a slightly messy work bench or i feel like im doing it wrong lol.
I can say that 'cuz I finally got my mine cleaned up earlier today! [*-)] It looked pretty much the same as yours.
Buzz
Its clean damnit lol.

Hi Scorpiomikey,
That Corsair is coming along very nice. Looking real good! [Y]
I am addicted to the Military Channel and the Military History Channel and I have seen several episodes talking about the Corsair. The Japanese hated them! A lot of fire power, engine power, and agility. Have you decided how you are going to load it out yet?
Ken
Hi Everyone,
I am still working on that belt. I need to add the “L” shaped metal piece shown in the picture here as number “8”:

As you can see I need to paint the small bit of etched area inside of the “L”. So I will use a method I have learned from another website mixed with my own techniques where I will paint the area and let it dry completely. Next I will use a glazing spreader wrapped with a very fine cotton cloth dipped in mineral spirits to remove the enamel from the un-etched metal leaving the paint in the etched areas. It works really nice on photo-etched instrument panels where you have two different colors you want to use, but it will work for this application just fine for one color.
Here is a picture after I painted the green:

The only bad thing is enamel takes a couple of days to dry completely but the results is really cool.

Hi folks. It’s been a weird week, well actually all year up til now. I am still working on an official badge, but right now, my main system is out of action so I won’t be able to complete it until I get it up and running. Repair parts are on their way, so it should be back up by next weekend.
I decided to do something different for this build, so I decided to do a Russian MIG 29UB fighter in 1/48 scale. Well, I got the kit which was supposed to have Russian and German markings, but didn’t have the Russian markings after all. I have been trying to find an affordable set of MIG 29 Russian markings, but the few sets I have found are out of my budget range for decals. If I don’t find a set soon, I may need to do an S30, SU35, or SU27 kit instead because I don’t have any of the needed paint for a German fighter. If anyone has a good source for affordable (Under $12) 1/48 Russian MIG 29 decals, preferably for the Academy kit, please let me know. Thanks.
I will probably at least start the MIG in the next couple of days on the chance that I do get some decals before it’s finished. We are living at my Mother in Law’s house for the time being, so I only have a bit of room, and so construction is slowed down quite a bit anyways.
I hope this build is a big success, and I am sure that Berny would have liked knowing that he is not forgotten.

Im thinking a single centreline bomb since it was a local strafing run that brought her down (the real aircraft)
In saying that the kiwis did some funny stuff with their corsairs.
Example.

Centreline tank with a smaller tank either side. Frequently the outer tanks were replaced with bombs.
But thats a bit much effort lol.
Mike: Ok the bench is clean but where do you put your feet? [:P]
Ken: Cool technique - thanks!
Rich: These are a little over twelve bucks but they look pretty cool. Never used the brand but one does have a cool shark mouth.

Thanks for the info. I must have had a brain fart or something because I completely forgot about sprue Brothers. Now I just need to see exactly what each set has in them. Thanks again.
Rich
Rich:
Np at all. Found this set too, $25.00 is a bit much but if you do lots of Soviet/Russian Federation fighters it might be worth it:

Thats what the gap under the chair is for. If not for feetsies what for?
Makes perfect sense- I stand corrected [;)]
Lol, im slowly working my way through it. Although yesterday i added 3 more kits to it. one of which ive almost completed already (It can be handy not having a significant other distracting you constantly lol)
