Got the wings reglued last night after detaching them so drill a hole i missed and realign them. Noticed they were not straight.
Hi Everyone,
Very cool!! I just found out my grade on my first exam. I got a 95 out of 100! 95%!!! Rock on!!! Now all I have to do is make it through tomorrow. Then the next class starts on Monday.
Ken
Bummer Scorpiomikey. That is always the one thing I hate to do is re-doing something. But I have done it many times! I hope it turns out better the second time.
Ken
SoMM Ken: Hey, great- can’t do much better than that [Y].
Mike:Yeah, gotta agree I hate tearing stuff down the redoing it. Good luck!
Slow progress on the Havoc. Seems AMT somehow located the main landing gear about 1/4 inch / 3 mm too far back and I went and drilled out new holes and puttied over the old ones. Am filling a few injection holes as well and then should be ready to start on the cockpit. I have decided to leave the bomb bay closed so when the cockpit and wheel wells are done I should be able to close her up.
Hi Cliff,
Thanks for the kudos. Sounds like you are meeting your challenges head on moving at a good pace!
Ken
Hi Everyone,
I didn’t have as much time to spend on my build this evening as I had hoped. All lot of things had backed up while I was studying for those exams that needed taken care of.
But I did get some work done. I managed to bend a little more on that seatbelt and got it closer to the position shown in that picture. That is one thing I like about using metal over tape, it does hold its shape, but it takes a lot more work. I had already painted the metal strip, but half of that is already chipped off. I will have to re-paint it when I have it bent to the correct shape. One thing about it, it will be “one of a kind”! Then I will have to make another one for the other seat! I would take a picture but with the paint scratched off it looks terrible and I would rather wait until it is finished to show it off.
By the way, I got an 88.3% on the exam this morning. I am glad that is over with. Now I can concentrate on this build for a while!
Ken
SoMM Ken: Congrads on your exams going so well. And I hope your back is feeling better.
Hi Cliff,
Thanks for the kudos. Yes, my back is feeling much better. It still has a little bit of dull ache but nothing I can’t deal with.
Ken
Hi Everyone,
Tonight I had to remote into the servers at work. I just finished working on them. So I am going to relax and spend the last hour of my evening zoning out in front of the television. But the weekend looks clear, so hopefully it will stay that way and I can actually get some work done on my Phantom! I will check in with you all later.
Ken
Greetings everyone,
Isn’t it funny no matter how much you plan, you never get as much done as you wanted. Well today life just got in the way. I had to work on our taxes but at least it turned out on a good note. For once we came out about even.
I did get some work done on the ejection seats. Here is where they are as of tonight:

These are for you Berny! Those seat belts are a lot of work, but by gosh they will add a lot of detail when it is done.
Ken
PROGRESS…er sorta lol.

Got the prop done and weathered. Ive since painted the spinner blue. Im kinda stalled on this since so much of my next few steps require me to paint and im a bit short to get the rattle cans i need.
I could brush paint it. But i wanna get the nice feathered look between the colours. I also want to weather this bird quite heavily to im thinking of using the salt technique.
Ken and Mike: Nice looking work guys!
Cockpit almost done here, went out-of-the-box, doesn’t look too bad with a little pre-shading and chipping with a silver pencil.
Hi Scorpiomikey,
Nice work on the prop! [Y] Nobody is in a rush here, so I would agree with you and wait until you can afford the rattle cans. Especially since you have such nice work invested in it so far!
Ken
Hi Cliff,
Thanks for the kudos! Sounds like you are moving right along on your Havoc. The cockpit on mine is taking me forever!
Ken
The weatherings easy. I put the prop in my dremel. wound it back to almost the slowest it would go. Than jammed a pencil in the prop. Once i was happy with the wear and tear i then proceeded to crank the dremel up as fast as it would go and get all excited because it worked like real propeller lol.
That’s a great technique! It turned out really nice.
Greetings fellow modelers!
Not a lot of progress for me to report today but at least there is progress. Here is a few pictures of what I have done today:

I feel like it is comparable to a slow moving locomotive. It may be slow, but nothing is going to stop it. I will check in with everyone tomorrow night.
Ken
Hello Gang!
Ken, I’m glad you are feeling better and happy to hear you did well on those exams! Congratulations!
Some interesting things going on here! I like the TF-102 conversion, I never knew it even existed! Odd looking craft with that side-by-side seating! Be looking forward to seeing how that goes!
I want to apologize for my lack of contribution here. With all that’s going on between an elderly mother with COPD and dementia, a not-so-wonderful job, unexpected truck repairs, dental issues, blizzards, and so on, I find I have little time and even less energy for hobbies. Most days I leave the house around 8 in the morning and don’t return until 10 p.m. or later. What time I have had, I put into trying to tie up the loose ends on my F-4F for the Rhinobuild. It is getting very close, but the fact that it has taken me until March to get that far on the Phantom, make me wonder if I can possibly keep up with both GB’s or even one of them, for that matter! I’ll just have to see how it goes at this point!
Jim
Hi Jim,
It is great to hear from you! I wish it was under better circumstances. I wish the best for your mother. It sure sounds like life has been sending you a bunch of really bad curve balls. I hope it gets better for you real soon. Please check in with us when you can, even if you are not able to start building here, we still like to hear from you! You know you are more than welcome here.
Ken
Hi Everyone,
Well I really thought I was going to be able to get those ejection seats pretty well finished tonight. I let the super glue dry overnight just the same as I did for the other side before I started bending on the belts. But both of them let go. So I had to re-glue them. Now I will have to wait and let them dry again before I attempt to bend those belts.
