Within the last 30 days my house was surrounded on 3 sides with a fire just to the north and one to the south and one 4 streets to the west yesterday with a sheriff knocking on my door asking if we will evacuate.this has got to stop.we just bought this house in northern Cal 18 months ago.
Talk to the folks responsible for land and forest management in your area. They set and carry out the policies for those activities. Mother Nature is not going to listen.
The one to the south was arson,person arrested.
Ya, it’s an issue, especially if you live outside the city. I’ve been through 2 big ones in 2003 & 7. Our fire response today is way way better. But the right fire in the right spot during a Santa Ana is unstoppable…like the Paradise/Camp a year or so ago. Follow Cal Fire guidelines, pack a go bag and get out early.
I’m very sorry to hear of that. When they say leave, please do it. I live in a somewhat similar situation. All the photos I care about are scanned on a remote backup drive.
