My first encounter with armor has been incredible. I came over from aircraft for a break. What a treat. I picked up the Sherman and am finishing it as it should have been at Normandy. I learned how to do a sludge wash on this and it is incredible. The detail is wonderful and I love all the cans and boxes and equipment. I also like the fact that Tamiya has such a wealth of figures for this scale. I think I am going to be doing armor for a while. Which german tank was at Normandy and does Tamiya have one in 1:35th? If so, what is the color scheme? Thanks,

Sorry I misread the post [D)][D)]

Check out Tamiya’s Late Panther G. Also, their Tiger Late. Both are generally a mix of Dunkelgrun, Rotbraun over dunkelgelb. There is also the “Ambush” scheme, which is a mix of those same colors with spots. Look at the second from last Panther here

If you want a Normandy Sherman, build a Duplex Drive version. That’s the amphibious version.
Welcome to the dark side. I too was once strictly into AC, but then the alure of combat vehicles made it impossible to go back. It’s just so much more fun do get down and dirty [:D]
Welcome! We’re glad to have you join us down in the mud. [:D] For World War II armour, here’s a couple of useful links:

there were several german tanks in that fight. panzer IV’s, panthers, tigers, and probably several smaller vehicles. im not sure.
BTW- contrary to rumors in the wingie-thingies section, it doesnt get darker from here on…[:D]
Dragons early Sherman M4A1 is a good kit and is proper for Normandy, you can also add wadeing gear, dozer blades, or even do a Sherman Crab if you want something a little out of the ordinary as all of these showed up at D-Day. As for German armor at Normandy [:-,] Panthers, Panzer IIIs, Panzer IVs, Tigers, the Germans had lots of armor and used it all. If you wanted to do something out of the ordinary even a captured French Souma would be correct.
Don’t forget Marder III M’s, Stug’s. No King Tiger’s though.
