I want to start the final finishing of my Stug III and have considerered using MIG productions products. I have never used them before and was wondering if an of you have. Could you tell me how they may react with Model Master Enamels? How exactly do they work? Are they brush on? Airbrush? What the difference between Pigments, Filters, and Washes?
Good questions I’ve always wondered about! I will watch this [:)]
You ask a lot of questions,I will try to help:
Pigments are ground up colored powders, usually dusted on models and fixed with mig thinner.
washes are a very thinned out paint, brushed over your model,it settles into crevices ans panel lines to hilite them
filters are also thinned paint also brushed over your model, but used to alter yor basecoat.
if you use any of mig,s products you must protect your enamel finiish because these will attack enamel, you must seall with future or an acrylic clear 1st.
also try www.migproductions.com or ggogle mig products to get more detailed instructions
I know others will add on,but i hope this helps
I looked at MIGs website but there was no kind tutorial on how to use the products. Does anyone know where I can find one? I have seen many modelers use the products and turn out awesome models. Thats always one point of note with all of my kits, everyone says I need more weathering. I like to keep things subtle but can see where these items would come in handy.
Try this one
If you are looking for a tot of how to use MIG pigments look for the Night Vision DVD. You would have to watch it on your computer, but I highly recommend it. It shows how to use the pigments dry, wetted with spirits (MIG thinner). Also goes into making mud with them. I just tried that method on my Ferdinand. As to where to get the DVD, Sprue Brothers has them in stock, (I just checked) for $22.49
I have used the pigments both dry and wet. I found that using wet then dry yield a great result.
Hope this helps you.
