Well, I started a plane in late May and I’m just about to shoot it with Future and apply the decals. Then I still have to do the undercarriage and the weapons.
But, I’ve made steady progress and I’m happy with the pace I’m working at. In the end, that’s what’s important. I generally get two to three hours a week on a model.

I’ve been on vacation for the last month and unfortunately have a bad kit-buying fetish. I vowed to start on the enormous pile of kits in my closet. I just finished a trumpeter 1/32 A-10A (without weapons) in five days. Looks great to me. Now I have to decide about the other two trump A-10’s i’ve acquired (don’t ask). Maybe it’s time for the thuds…
lplanch,
You finished a 1/32nd kit IN FIVE DAYS???!!! You OBVIOUSLY aren’t married. I’ve been on vacation for the past two weeks, and can only get a few hours per day to work on models because of the other household-related things that need to be done (according to my wife).
And I know what you mean about the kit-buying fetish. When I first moved in to the house five years ago, I only had about 17 models in my stash. Now it’s over 106, and I’m sure will only get bigger after this weekend (a local club is having their annual contest/show).
Happy Modeling & Semper Fi!!
Well, I just finished the 1/48th Hasegawa F-16CJ I spent 4 months working on. I only have TWO kits in the works now (1/32nd F-15E & F-18C), so maybe I can get them finished before the NEXT year comes around.
How’s everyone else doing on their hangar queens?[:)][:-^]
I have a few kits that have been dragging on a long time, the worst isn’t an aircraft model though. It’s a 1/25 1949 Mercury kit that I started in about 1988, I guess that makes it about a 16 year project. Much of that time was taken up by the Army! So I have an excuse (weak but its all I got) Its not even half finished……………………………[banghead][censored]
I’ll finish it one day… whats that? hell’s frozen over. Damit there go’s another excuse
The only hanger queens I have are only a few weeks old, a sword T-38 because my dremel died and a B-17G because I havent felt inspired enough to resume foiling it. Usually if I start it I finish it.
9x19mm,
That’s RARE among modelers!! heeheehee!! I usually finish what I start also, but it takes me MONTHS, even YEARS, to do it!! Good to hear that someone has more stay-with-it-ness than I do.
I usually have a few on the go at once.I like to do alot of extra detailing on my kits. When it begins to feel like work,I just put that one away and go back to another one with fresh interest. Some of my kits have been in the works for 3yrs or more.I currently have started (all 1/48)revell B-25j,P/M Helldiver,P/M F-84,Monogram F-101and just finished a C-47.I also have a 1/32 revell F4U-1D that is probably the oldest project. As someone mentioned earlier,it’s a very crude kit.Mine now has a super detailed R-2800,VP cockpit(excellent and accurate kit in itself),repositioned elevators and rudder, dropped flaps, scratchbuilt cowlflaps and I’m building gun bays for it now.I’ve put alot of work into it so far and lots more to go.
Some may find my methode a little strange but it works for me.So far I haven’t lost any parts even with a move in all those years. It helps that my wife and kids understand that my hobby room is a “NO FLY ZONE”.They have the rest of the house.
I guess as long as we’re working on something, the hobby still lives. And who knows, some times some neet aftermarket stuff turns up for that old kit in the closet.

Wow,
People really take their time. I feel bad that I’ve had one go unfinished for 5 months. I usually build about one a month.
Whew, Am I glad to hear good news. I have (all 1/48) 2 testors p-47’s, 1 p-51, and a revell p-40. I am so glad I am not alone.[:D]
