Finished Trumpeter SA-2 missle on transporter

Ok, well this one took me a while. Sorry for the pics, I think in a month or so I’ll get a better digicam. Even though this one is 5mp, for some reason the colours are always off.
The decals on this one were the only problematic area, no good references, and at the end I just kind of gave up on them, so I’ll probably go back and fix them up at one time or another. I had a huge seam on the tank of the trailer, so that’s been fixed since taking the pics.
Other than that, it’s OOTB, with just some basic structural shapes added to the engine bay.

Good job, it looks great. I like the base too. Only comment I have is maybe blend the base color and the mud on the wheels some more. The mud is much lighter than the base and it just doesn’t look like the mud came from the ground it is on. Other than that, it is a great looking model. All the time you spent on it really paid off.

Excellent build and base Zokissima [tup] Thats your Cold War GB model right? I’ve never seen the Russian armored guards placard on the door like that but it looks good. I’ve always liked that insignia.

its a beauty zok i like it a lot all the way from the base up, its nice and dirty without being completely derelict looking (like most of mine heh) and just all looks right together, great job, im currently working on the bm-13 and i assume its the same truck with a few slight differences i just hope it comes close to looking like this, how was this kit to build any probs? i may try one it looks cool.

Gino, good eye. I do have to add a lot more pastel chalk to the base. When I originally painted it, they were pretty spot on, then I added a couple of filters to the base, and not the vehicle, and yeah, the discrepancy is quite obvious, isn’t it. Gotta get on that.

i-beam, yep, the cold war gb entry it is.
I wasn’t sure about the decals. The kit instructions show it on, and I have a few reference pics of pristine vehicles in parades sporting the markings, but I don’t have any operational pics. I guess I took a little bit of artistic license.

biffa, actually, I wish I toned it down on the weathering. It is much more subtle, but again, the lighting (or my lack of skill for it) and the camera GREATLY increased the contrast, it looks like there’s a lot more mud on it than there actually is. I’m really striving with each passing model to weather them less and less, as the more pictures I see, they don’t really sport tons of mud on em.
The Katyusha, I believe that the truck chasis is similar.
The kit itself was a dream. Some of the PE parts for the missle rail were a little difficult to put together, but otherwise, it was an amazing kit. I’d strongly suggest picking one up. Near Tamiya quality of fit, and a trully Russian vehicle. Should be able to find a few of 'em for cheap online.

Spectalular build Zoran. Something you definately don’t see here everyday. Very fine base also. All your hard work paid off.

That is a great looking Diorama. Not too complicated and completely suited to the model. Looks great.

Looks great!
