Finished the 1/48th scale Tamiya P-47D Bubbletop. Built straight out of the box. If you like decaling you’ll love this kit. A lot of decals that went down really well. I was tempted to paint the invasion stripes but decided to stay with the decals.
Very nice Bolt. The checkerboard looks very good. Try painting the invasion stripes next time. They really arent hard, after painting them a time or 2 Im sure youll find them easier to paint then decaling. I havent used decal stripes in awhile and believe me if I can do them anybody can.
Beauty of a Jug, John. Incredible work all around, it sounds like it doesn;t make sense, but what sticks out are the panel lines, because they don’t stick out. Looks very realistic…how did you accomplish such nice panel lines?
Nothing special for the NMF just Tamiya Flat Aluminum acrylic XF-16. I just finished another bird which I used Model Master non - buffing aluminum metallizer. I considered using it agian but just wanted to stay with the acrylic because of the easy clean up.
Really can’t take much credit here. The Tamiya model has great engraved panel lines. I was thinking about hilighting them with an oil wash which I often do when I weather but I thought these stood out just fine on there own.
Nice T-bolt. I have the same kit almost completed. I can’t believe that’s the IP decals from the kit. Mine certainly didn’t come out that good! I’ve used the same XF-16 and X-11 Chrome Silver with excellent results. Considering the cost of Alcad II and it’s pitfalls, I plan on sticking with them. When I do get around to finishing my kit, can I borrow your pictures? [:o)]
That instrument panel is incredible.[:O] Might I ask how you accomplished that? I might risk having tomatoes and eggs thrown my way for saying this but I would like to apply your technique to my jet Ip’s.I am using Mike Grants instrument panel decals on my F-15,but even those don’t look as good as yours.Anyway, your model is awesome…good job!
