Finished Pics JS-2 Stalin

This is Dragon’s JS-2m Chkz Stalin

This kit was great to build. It was clean, crisp and had a little bit of hull texture to it. It went together easily. Only small issue ( and has been noted in some reviews) there wasn’t a whole lot of room for the tracks in between the hull and rollers.

Indy links were no big deal (once the dimples in my fingers came out)

I pre-shaded w/black primer
Tamiya acrylics XF- 61 Dark Green -airbrushed
Light buff dry brush and some artist oils

Great Kit ! [tup] I highly recommend

Jim

Before weathering

Couldn’t screw-up this barrel - goes either way [:-^]

Thanks RonUSMC !

Jim The tank looks real good. A+++ job. Can’t wait to see finished pictures.

Excellent job Jim. Nice weathering job. I have the same kit and agree with your assessments of it.

“It is well that war is so terrible, lest we row too fond of it.”-R.E.Lee

Nice job Jim. Good work on the assembly and paint job. I have built the same kit from Dragon. I encountered some fit problems in mine (upper and lower hull) and the indy tracks required some special effort as they don’t fit quite well. But I agree that the details are good on this kit.

Real nice, Jim. Superb subject and superb workmanship. More like that please!

Excellent job, Jim.
The JS-II is one of my faves, and you’ve made a beaut here.

Real nice work.[bow]

I like the pre-shading alot.[tup]

Great job! Very nicely weathered.

Thanks to everyone in the “overseas and late night crowd” - Your comments are greatly appreciated

Can only take part of the credit - it was a nice kit !

Congrats on 2000 J-Hulk - you’re scratch built !

Looks great
what colour did you use on the kit and are the tracks from the kit or after market?

Nice work Jim!

I like the pre-shading. Did you just do around the edges and high-points?

Excellent Jim!

The JSII is a cool tank.

Ron.

Excellent job Jim … looks fantastic !!!

I had to go to Ron’s site to look at the pics, they’re moved to the armour section there so your links no longer work.

You have really captured the heavy metal look to this beast.

Great addition to your collection.

Thanks for sharing !!!

VERY nice looking, excellent job

Very nice!!!

I’m happy to see Russian armor more often now
I may have to open some boxes i have

thanks for sharing,

Thats a really, nice clean build. Not much more I can add. Good job, and hope to see more in the future.

Great job. The painting and weathering are superb.

Compare the first 2 pics and you can see what a huge impact just turning the tank turret can have on a photo.

Thanks again for the comments. It is well appreciated

Caveman - Thanks. (got the barrel right) I used Tamiya xf-61 dark green w/light buff drybrush - tracks are Dragon individual limks (painted tamiya dark earth) - comes in most Dragon kits. They’re work to put together but I think well worth the effort - detail and ability to do track sag are great. No PE or aftermarket - straight out of box.

Erock - Thanks. I painted the whole thing (not the tracks) flat black - used testor’s flat black in a can. I found their spray from a can really adheres to plastic. Anything that is bare, I brush flat black into the tight spots. Then airbrushed the green onto the high spots - leaving the black in the low and recessed areas. (more shadow) I use dark brown as a primer when I use any dark yellow paint scheme. I found the yellow doesn’t cover as well and shows as a different color over black

Ron P - Thanks. No stretched sprues used in this kit either

Sherm - Thanks for the comments and the notice on the pics. I switched it as soon as I could. That Ron USMC is just too darn efficent.

Petbats - you’re right - composition is everything

Thanks again guys. I’ve picked up alot of stuff hanging out here. You’re comments are allways appreciated.

Hey, what’s that exhaust-like stain coming out of the large grille on top of the rear hull? Is that supposed to look like in real vehicles? Did that engine grille vent any black exhaust?

Great job Build22. The shading looks great as does the whole tank.
