FINISHED PICS--A lil' something for Jenn...FINALLY!

Hi guys!

Been a while since I’ve done a dio over here. Nothing fancy this time around; just a small dio for Jenn to lift her spirits while she’s majorly stressed-out from Pre-Med college courses. The Organic Chemistry and Calculus are killing her time, so I thought I’d build her something to make her smile.

Ever since we went to Wolfhagen last year and crawled around in the Leopard 2A6’s there…

…I promised her that I’d build her a Leopard to commemorate it–she thought the tank was just amazing. I was in heaven! [:P]

So here’s the work so far…the base is not finished yet; still some painting to do…

…of course, it has horses–“big doogs” to Jenn…[;)]

…and the general layout…

I’m waiting on a 1/72 figure of a civilian girl to come in, so I can put it in the turret there. That model, by the way, is a DML 1/72 Leopard 2A6–a nice litttle kit, I must say. Painted in Tamiya acrylics.

More pics when I get some more work done! [:D]

GASP!! No WIP this time around? Snuck it in behind the Eagle? I guess it’s small enough to fit. I like the Big Doogs! lol
But seriously- 1/72?? I guess it’s bigger than the Castle
I love the groundwork, the Tank looks amazing- your skills never cease to amaze…
By the way- nice matching outfits [:P]

Climbed around inside?? Any pictures? Interiors are always cool [:-^] lol

Thanks, Chris!

Actually, thanks for reminding me–I should have put in the link address for the pics–here it is:

and the Buffalo ARV that was there too:

Gotta admit, I’ve been taking a break from the WIP’s just to get more time on the bench. But,time to make the doughnuts again! [:D]

haha no that’s understandable. One of my WIPs started to get to the point where I was like- painted this! photograph/post and now this! photograph/post

Wasn’t aware you already had the pics up! Thanks for the links, I’ll check them out.

Very cool…sweet painting of the BIG Doogs!!! Are those Prieser horses? Very sweet little dio…most all of those DML 1/72 tank offerings that I have worked with have been amazing in terms of detail and fit…some of their 1/72 stuff rivals some companies’ 1/35 offerings in terms of detail!!!

Thanks, Manny!

Yes, these are 1/72 Preisser Horses. Thye look to me to be a direct copy of Historex’s 1/32 Horse line–I’ve built over a dozen of those for Jenn over the years. They’re nice kits, and these tiny ones are just as sweet.

The Leopard too, is quite a sweet little kit. I’ll post a few close shots of it when I do the final detailing.

Nice work there Karl. It is very touching that you make so many of your dios for your better half.

Cool…gotta get some of those 1/72 horses…the work on the black and white one is exceptional and would pass for 35th scale…

Great work as usual Karl…amazing painting…can’t wait for more pics!!![tup]

That is very cool Karl. Seriuosly, you are one thoughtful guy. Remind me to never let my wife read a post that has the words "Doog and Jenn’ in the same sentance. I’ll never get any peace…“Howz come you don’t do that for me…” AAAAGHHH!!!..[:D]

Regards,

Jeff

LOL! Thanks, Jeff!

Thanks too, Stern0, Manny, Lee and Narayan! New pics later tonight!

Here’s a couple more pics, guys. It;s pretty mich finished except for the “Gunner Jenn” figure that I’m waiting to come in. A Priesser 1/72 civilian figure that I’ll paint up as Jenn and stuck her in the turret there…

The base was done with Celluclay, sisal twine and greass powder for grass, and the tree is from Woodland Scenics coated with grass powders. The fence is from toothpicks. The big doogs are painted with oils, and the groundwork has all been painted for highlights and depth.

Comments? Suggestions before I get it finished up? [:D]

Looking superb as usual Doog, nice work on the Leopard2!

Cheers

Mike

Nice! Looks great- I love the layout, the horses are great! Same with the grasses. The Leo looks a little …hmmm. Something about the mud. Looks fine, it’s just… a little large for scale perhaps? Like it got rained on with 1/35 raindrops or something like that… I don’t know- it’s not that it’s too dirty. Just… it looks like a tank sized mud puddle engulfed it. Which could easily be a land feature in the West German countryside. You know what you’re doing, so I wouldn’t change it. Just something weird on my end…

Karl I have to keep reminding myself that this is 1/72 and not 1/35!

Great job and one lucky lady or should I say lucky doog[;)].

Thanks, Mike, Chris, and panzerguy!

Chris, these baby’s can get pretty dirty! ANd if Jenn had a Leopard, you can bet she’d be "brappin’’ it through the deepest mudholes she could find! LOL!

Ah yes! Now there’s that tank sized mud hole I was thinking of!! [:P] haha thanks for the picture.

Now that I’m looking at this reference, I’m almost wondering if perhaps you could add a darker “wet mud” look in places, or perhaps some of those Mig Powders to blend things in and add some variation?

Hmm… I think actually, I might be much more inclined to really love this one if you shoot your next set of update pictures with a quarter or something. I can’t wrap my head around the 1/72 and am comparing this unrightfully to your 1/35 armor.

Lovely little dio Doog, you have created another dio with a unique atmosphere. You can just picture the Leopard out in the country on excercises, the crew stopping to have morning tea with the horses…in this case it will be Jenn…[(-D]

About the horses though…i thought they would look a little more spooked with such a large Leopard on the prowl…[:-^]

Boomer…

Yeah… hmm I’m sure if they do exercises constantly, the local animals would get used to the equipment. Especially with Jenn giving them a wave right?
