I have learned the most of this kit more than any other I have done. I tried a lot of new thing like:
1… First kit I used an Air brush on.
2. First time I have used Salt Chipping to weathering.
3. First time I have sprayed “decal” instead of using what comes with the kit
4. First time I used the “Max Technique”
5. First time using a setting solution of the decals
I had a lot of fun building the kit. This is probably my first kit where I wanted to do my best. I know I made a few mistakes like the striping on the engines but out of shape. I did the salt chipping wrong and the cockpit panels could use a little work. I am very happy with it but I can see where it can be improved. I was just wondering what everyone else thought? Also this site has my complete build history, so you can see why I did some of the things I did. Please forgive my grammar I have never been very good at it.
Well, I like it. It looks really good, the only thing that stood out to me was the poor masking job on the canopy. The rest looks really good, especially the legos in the background.
Those are my kids … Honest. We glue the lego models together so they pretty much stay in one piece. Uselly something shows up on my work table once a week for me to “Fix”.
Sprayed Decal means I didn not use some of the decals from the kit, I just masked the stripes so only where the stripes would be visable. I then airbushed the the color of the stripes. The idea behind it is that it would look more realistic as they are painted on (Thinner) then it would look if you would regular decals as they tend to be thicker. Also I wanted to do some chipping on the stripes and I thought it would be easier to salt chips and spray then to try and pick some of the decals off with an excato.
Hey, nice build Greasy! I’ve just finally been catching up on the new Battlestar Galactica series (TV on DVD is the way to go), and I realllllly need to get me one of these. Too bad they don’t have a kit of the new Cylon Raider to go with it. [V]
