Well, I finally finished something. I actually finished the tank awhile back but just finished the figures a short while ago. It’s the Dragon JS-2 with Tamiya figures taken from the Russian Tank Crew at Rest set.

be gentle?-- hey ya wanna hug?-- J/K dude[(-D]— real nice job on the JS II-[tup]- exactly what is the DML kit #?-- I have this (?) kit on order from roll models–very nice depiction – the Tamiya crew look right at home-- one critique-- would like to see more ‘close up’ type pics-- very nice job man— tread[8D]-- p.s. I have heard there is a clearance problem between the top of the tracks to the hull fenders – any comment?-- thanks again
i agree with tread, give us a few close ups. we LOVE the close ups. few things i picked up though. the tracks are nice and dusty, but shining on the inside. maybe you could dirty up the inside as well. also, just a personal preference, but i would dab a little bit of soot on the end of the barrel. i would think that this bad guy would be hammering tigers all day long. the figures look nice as tread already stated. they came out real nice. good job on it, i like it very much [:D] might need to go to the LHS and pick this kit up pretty soon.
Ya know, I really didnt notice how much the clean muzzle stands out until I saw the pics. I will square that away in the morning along with some new pics. Thsi is one of the earliest Dragon releases that I bought when it was new and just sat on a shelf in my garage waiting to be built. I’ll have to check on the kit #. It is definitely a pleasant build. I dont remeber any problem with clearance of the fenders over the tracks.
p.s. just checked the instrction sheet: kit #6012. It does not appear to be available anymore, but the JS-2m is…
Looks like this tank has been through some mud and dirt.
This was my first DML build and it was a gem, just a little bit of tweaking that back panel on. Good job Stik, nothing wrong with your tracks, it’s just that I’m so used to rusty ones, but the dust does dirty them up. Perhaps a wash would have brought some of the highlights out, such as the wheels and such. Maybe you did and my computer is playing tricks on me. A good effort. What color did you use for the base?
Thanks Tigerman,
I used Model Master Russian Armor Green as the base. I am not too hapy with these pics as they dont show all the good texturing I got with the mud and dry brushing.
Yeah, I had that and Model Master Dark Green and went with that on my KV. The other just looked too light, but as I can see on yours, looks just fine.
The Stalin looks good Stikpusher! It’s a great kit and you did a nice job on it.
The only thing that really jumps out at me is the shiny tracks, as roosterpelo noted. I’d put some pigments or a dark wash on 'em to make them a bit more in harmony with the rest of the weathering.
For anyone interested, an .040 strip between the lower and upper hull will give you proper scale clearance above the tracks…you can see the result on my ISU-152.

Hi stikpusher,
I agree with the others about the track ( inside surface) being too clean. Also, seems as if the upper surfaces are too clean or just appear monotone. Perhaps working some pastel chalks into the finish. Some dust around hatches and raised surfaces. Maybe some streaking in the turret sides. I do like the mud and track sag. I’d go [tup] [tup].
