Finished Hasegawa p47d

Hasegawa P47 Thunderbolt 1/48 straight from the box. Finished in Xtracolor and Humbrol enamels and sealed with humbrol mattcote. This was an enjoyable build and stress free build.

Outstanding! Very nice finish- was it pre- or post- shading? Either way, I really dig it. The canopy parts also look exceptionally well- finished. Thanks for sharing! [tup]

Canopy?

Heck I couldn’t stop looking at that paint! Very nice!

And, yes, the canopy looks killer too!

Find job all around. One can never see too many Jugs. What a beauty you’ve made.

As fine a jug as I have ever seen. beautiful finish on that one.

Very nice [tup]. I thought Norma had an upper disruptive camo scheme of Green 42 over OD, but my memory could be failing.

Regards, Rick

Glad you liked the build.

I preshaded with humbrol 32 dark grey then applied the overall colours in lights coats building up to a get a subtle effect. The olive drab is xtracolor ANA613 again applied in thin coats to build up a subtle effect. I then went over this with xtracolor faded olive drab in the center of panels i a very random pattern. Then some smaller access panels were masked and painted a a slightly differnet shade to break up the appearane but it was kept to a minimum. After all the main colours decals are on i applied a wash of paynes grey on the underside and a mixture of paynes grey and raw umber for the top. This was applied with a finie brush to the panel lines only and wiped off with cotton buds after about an hour. I don’t use any postshading from an airbrush. Then when dry sealed with humbrol mattcote.

I use a revell vario airbrush with a medium tip for all my paintwork

Gorgeous model, love the finish/shading! Another post I will copy the pics and save them for reference… excellent job, cheers!

Very nice Paint and weathering are very well done.
