Could be. Never heard of Cox before. I’m guessing that is something like photobucket?
Might also be the computer (or more specifically the network) you are on too. I know any of my work computers will do that if i’m on here at work, don’t see a single picture.
Where are they posted? Maybe i could take a look at what you got there. I’ve got a cable modem, so i get everything at home.
Cox is an ISP in some parts of the country I believe. To host your pictures I would recommend a free service like photobucket. You just sign up with an email address you dont mind getting spam at and you are set.
This was the Tamiya 1/48 British Brewster Buffalo. Those knowledeable about this model will quickly notice that I have the wrong canopy/gunsight on the model. That is because the originalcanopy fell off my desk, and as I rolled back my chair to look for it, I heard a “crunch” - and had to use the other canopy.
Thanks to those who recommended Photobucket - it works very quickly and easily!
Looks a lot better than mine. I just built the Tamiya Buffalo a few weeks ago. It goes together very well, like most Tamiya kits. Did you use the masking set they provided or an a/m one?
Sweet looking Buffalo, John. The BUffalo is one I’d like to build in a Navy scheme some day. What did you think of the Tamiya kit? Special Hobby makes one, too, but Tamiya has never let me down so far.
You guys are too kind - thank you for the kind remarks!
Ben, Jon - I didin’t use any masks that were provided (didn’t notice any). I masked the canopy with Bare Metal Foil and airbrushed it. First time I’ve used BMF for masking, but it won’t be the last. As for decals, I used the AeroMaster “Buffalos over SE Asia” set.
Mucker - the Tamiya kit is like most I’ve built - little to no fit problems. Small gaps at the wing joints, but that was about it. The dio base is one I made last year for my Tamiya Wildcat build, and I use it to pose my South Pacific themed models on. I also tried putting a large photo of clouds behind it, but I still haven’t figured out how to get the professional looking lighting results that others have acheived with their photos. ( I was gonna put it on an old pair of skivvies. . . .[;)])
Speaking of ‘finished’ models, Ive always figured the 'Buff looked best in Finnish markings. When I get one for my collection, that’ll be it’s livery. Just hadda say that.
Your Buffalo looks nice, John. Nice setting. I’m working on the same kit, and so far I’ve broken and tweezer pulted that overturn tripod more times than I can remember, but it’s trapped under the canopy now, Did it give you any problems? Hope mine comes out as well as yours.
I just left the roll-bar assembly off until it was finished and I was ready to attach the canopy. Then I only had to fiddle with it once and not worry about it getting broken. Good luck on yours!
J/K great looking Buffalo, and sharp dio. I like the photo of the pilot standing on the tail holding the antenna. What did you use to remove the residue from the canopy after taking off the BMF? I like using the foil for masking, but removeing that residue can be tough w/o damaging the finish.
I had noticed in some earlier posts people talking about sometype of adhesive remover. (Goo B Gone?) It struck a memory with me, so I looked on the shelf with the old cleaners and found an old bottle of something called “De-Solve-It” - a citrus based adhesive remover. I squirted a little in an old bottle cap, dipped a q-tip in it, and rubbed the canopy. It worked like magic! Took off the sticky from the BMF, as well as the stickines from the masking tape on the opposite side. After it was clean, I rubbed it with a soft cloth and it polished up crystal clear! Also, the De-Solve-It did not seem to affect the paint (Tamiya Acrylics) at all.
that is a nice job on the buff you did.i would not worry about the right canopy on some of these aircraft due to that a lot was lend-lease and they took what ever they could get.you know the old saying, beggers can’t be choses…Digger
