Finished; Braille Scale Das Reich Tiger

Here’s some pics of my 1/76 Fujimi Tiger I. This was my second attempt at a braille scale kit and I added a few extra details to it. The most noticeable would be the zimmerit. Here’s a link to the wip photos /forums/1134393/ShowPost.aspx

Had to do a size comparison shot

Painting was done using Model Master Paints and a badger airbrush. Weathering is a combo of oils and acrylics for washes and some pastels to give it a dusty look. All the markings except for the 3 on the turret were hand painted.

This was a fun build; until it came time to do the tracks then things got a little aggravating[banghead].

Comments, critiques and questions are always welcome. Thanks for looking, Steve

Next up DML 1/72 Sturm Tiger

Wow.

You guys with the teeny builds really humble me. That detail, and the scaled down weathering, not to mention the micro mottle camo, are amazing.

Bill

Nice work on the small-scale Tiger Steve! [tup]

Really neat work on cammo and weathering in that scale. I have enough trouble getting things to look right in 1/35. Really magic ! [tup]

Julian

You continue to demonstrate your skills with hand tools and a piece of plastic. Even teensy weensy pieces of plastic[:D]

Awwwww, it’s papa Tiger and baby Tiger tanks.[;)][:D]

It looks amazing panzerguy, can’t tell you had any problems with the tracks(they look great!!)[tup]

Bill & Bill Julian Marc Mg

Thanks for looking in and the complements guys it’s much appreciated

Marc I’ve seen what you can do with even smaller stuff and it amazes me!

Mg since that’s the initial Tiger so I guess that would make it the grandpa[;)].

as far as the tracks go, it’s all in the angels and the lighting[:-^]

Great modelling on both. Thumbs up from me[tup]

OMG…my eyes go crossed just thinking of assembling one of these little fella’s, let alone to add scratchbuild and zimm into the equation as well!..[bow]…a superlative effort that looks great Steve!

Cheers

An excellent Penny Panzer!

Much better than many in 1/35.

WooooooooW!

I love it! Great job, I bow to a master! I recently set out to make an M60A1 w/ reactive armor, well it was for a Marine corp. display in my buddies Hobby Shop. I have only built 1/35th scale but it was a bonus kit for ordering like 5 kits from an EBay auction and an Mars kit in 1/72. When I opened the box, no reactive armor, no decals. I was upset to say the least, but I realized I wouldn’t let it stop me. I also realized the box art is copied from the Tamiya 1/35th kit. I hate a thief! but I have to admit I had to use a 3x optical magnifying lamp, combined with my Optivizor, not to mention my reading glasses and very bright lights to sand the seams and try to get the rather clunky poorly made plastic parts to even look like they belonged there. I gave up removed them and resorted to turning metal replacement guns with my micro lathe! By now I am determined to finish this monster and at least it can be an M60a1, but I need decals as there is no way I can hand paint in this minute scale. So I ask a master, is there a program ( I own a MacBook Pro) that I can use to make or copy the decals on to a clear sheet of decal film with my printer? I do however admit I am enjoying the scale. Heck it really challenges my creativity, just to apply glue or hold parts or whatever, and when I’m done… no problem with room to display it, its so small! I have learned one secret that some modelers know. Magnify it, light it and with the naked eye they won’t see it!

Again Sir! Great job! How about some close ups? I would like to see what you saw!

Sincerely,

Newarmorman

OK, that is really awesome!!! one question, what brand of paint did you use, and what colors did you use?

I bow to the master, Jim

Very, very nice! A fine result… Cheers Mike

Thanks all.

Bodge you’re Normandy dio was one of the inspirations to get working on this guy.

Brad I thought I’d go crossed eyed too working on something this small also. But I’ve found that if one of my 1/35 builds start to get a little aggravating taking a break and working on one of these small scale kits is kinda relaxing[^].

Steve first time I’ve heard that term before lol.

Jim the paints are all Model Masters. Dark green lightened with some light gull gray, afrika yellow again lightened with the gull gray and rust with a couple of drops of black.

Newarmorman first welcome to the wonderful world of armor! And if you like my Tiger wait to you see some of the work by the other guys here. Now about the decals I’m really not to up on printing my own decals. There is a whole section in the forums dedicated to decals and I’m sure that someone there would be able to help you. One that comes to mind is Redleg. Oh and about the track, right side under the first road wheel[sigh].

Mike much appreciated sir. Your builds were also responsible for my getting into the micro machines.

Thanks Panzerguy, and one more question, did you airbrush the camo? and if you did, did you make a mask, or do it freehand?

Thanks, Jim

Hi, Steve I’m lost for words and still in shock, that is just beautiful. I did follow your build and was amazed with the work you were puttting into this. Just stunning. I suppose that I must admit that I never took an interest in Braille scale as, Well, its small, but the work I’ve seen on this forum in the last couple of months, Karls, brents and now this, I’m amazed.

Terry.

Jim your very welcome. It was all done with an airbrush and free hand.

Terry thanks. I never thought about getting into this small scale stuff either till I saw the builds that some of the guys here were putting out[:O].

My only advice is to grunge up the running gear a bit more. Beyond that if you had posted it as 1/35th I might have bought it, at the least it has the visual impact of a well executed 1/48th kit. Q. How much magnification do you I.B.M.C (Itty Bitty model comittee.) guys use to whip up something this nice?.
