Finished B-17 pictures...

This is my finished B-17. Named it after my son, Logan. My first model done completely with an Badger Anthem 155 airbrush. Never used an airbrush before this. Takes a lots of practice. Hope you like.

Looks good Bryan…takes a brave soul to tackle a NMF and exhaust stains first time out with an airbrush, looks like you handled it well.

Nice work. What kind of paint did you use for the natural metal finish?

Actually, I just used something called Createx pearlized Airbrush colors. Just a pretty cheap acrylic. Didn’t really turn out the way I would have liked but, hey, it’s my first time. I will probably get some Alclad II at some point.

Got some paint on the inside of the windows. Not really as bad as it looks in the pictures.

Piflo,
That’s a lot better than my first attempt at airbrushing…
Do yourself a favor - get that Alclad…it’s great stuff - you’d be surprised at how much of a difference you’ll see in using the right materials.

Impressive !!!

Is it 1/48th? I think so, The only thing that I could comment on is the oil stains around the engines, I don’t think they are accurate. I think that they should be a more uniform stain around that area. The small streaks coming off of the four openings near the rear of the wing are right on, they couldn’t get any better than that. I don’t want you to alter your B-17 on my few feeble comments, it looks pretty impressive as it is, But you should at least consider them.

Very very nice. i have yet to attampt NMF. Not to be overly critical or anything, but I think testors metallizer or Alclad II will get you a much smoother finish. Speaking of which, whan on earth happened to Alclad I?

looks good what did you use for the custom designs.

Looks great!

Bryan,

I think you done one heck of a job on “Logan David”, especially that great nose-art transfer!! [:)] Thank you very much for letting us see, and now that you’ve broken in the airbrush, we’ll be seeing more, right? [:)]

One thing I’ve noticed about exhaust/oil stains… they’re just like clouds; no two are the same. I admire you for even attempting weathering your first time out, but you came though with flying colors, congratulations!

Take care,
Frank

Nice build. Love the custom decal. Logan’s a cute little guy.

Regards, Rick

very nice!![tup]

Excellent job on the 17, piflo1!

Regards, Dan

great job… how did you do the custom decals

Love the nose art, great looking bird thanks for the pics…

Thanks guys. I figured the exaust stains were pretty good considering that is what they looked like on the box, (see below) but I agree they could use some work.

The decals were done with testors decal paper and testors decal bonder. pretty simple. I am working on a my first tank now. Hope to get a lot of airbrush practice outta that one, just like the 17.

That is a great job on the B-17. If you do that well on the first try, what are your models going to look like after 10 or 20 of them? I have a suggestion for your exhaust stains. They should start down inside the opening. Look at the exhaust pipe on a car. The black carbon starts at the exhaust port of the cylinder and goes all the way out the exhaust system. Keep up the great work.

i must say that is a very impressive build. well done.

Very nicely done! I like the idea of naming it after your son; if he’s as young as shown in the decals, then I hope you still have the build around when he’s old enough to appreciate it. I had never thought of naming a build after a family member, but perhaps I should do one for my daughter.

Thanks for sharing, and keep up the good work!

My wife wants me to do one for her. I asked her if she would be willing to pose like the paintings on the sides of some old aircraft. She would.
