After 8 months i finished it , as you will see by the pictures I’m no proffesional but I’m happy with it

Thats all that counts in the long run. Looks good to me. Love the weathering and the way you highlighted the panels.
If you’re happy, I’m happy! Great looking build! Nothing wrong with it at all. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.
Very nice the Phantom is one of my favorites. I just started painting my Hasegawa F4EJ 1/48. Hope it turns out as nice as yours.
Nice job Sean. I love the Phantom’s looks, although I only built one in 1/48 and that was about 20 years ago. Thanks for sharing.
Regards, Rick
Wonderful job Sean - the weathering around the panels looks the part !
Be very happy with that mate - it looks like the real thing
Thats what we all strive for ![]()
You know for a “just finished” build, that thing looks about 20yrs old. A compliment to your weathering skills
Looks great
cheers guys I forgot to say that i missed one of the decals out , which i’ll put on tomorrow ,
the reason being I painted the panel that goes on the fuel probe , but had an accident with the white spirit , which i knocked over an it went on the panel , so i had to repaint it , so i couldn’t put the decal on ,
the only problem i have now is , the varnish , as i only use a paint brush , no matter what i use the plane looks shiney , so what i did was sand it down to take the shine off ,
but if any of you could give me a pointer how to varnish it would be much appriciated
It’s not shiny it has that sheen that a real supersonic plane gets over time.

If you are still worried about the varnish thing though. There is a product you can fine in Michael’s or any store of the like called Delta Ceramacoat.
It comes in 3 finishes Matte (dries dead flat) Satin, and Gloss.
This stuff is water based So you can clean it up easily, can be used with a brush or Airbrush, has no odor what so ever, dries on 10 minutes, and won’t attack what you are putting it over.
I stumbled onto this stuff when I ran out of my dull coat (Testors) and she gave it to me to try. I haven’t looked back since. She’s happy too since I don’t stink up the house when I am varnishing or freeze her out with open windows.
Once again she looks and I would change a thing to her.

Looks good! As has already been said, all that matters is that you are happy with it!

That Phantom of yours looks mighty good Sean. The build is clean, the finish has character and I can hear it roaring down the runway.
…
Always nice to wake up and see more finished models members post here daily, Bill.
Great weathering job man !
I especially like that first photo - she looks pretty toasted ! (That’s a good thing)
Chris
Looks great, Sean!
Congrats on a build well done!
Definitely has that “broken in” look.
Love those short nosed Phantoms!
Thanks for sharing
sean you did well. nice work.
joe
Well worth the time and effort, it looks great.
cheers guys much appriciated ,
and thanks for the tip on the varnish , to get it looking a bit duller i spent about an hour with fine sandpaper , taking the edge of it , but its looks ok ,
Thats the only drawback with using extracolor enamels , the paints a 100% match , but there a gloss finish
I dont see a thing wrong with that bird… awesome finish for paint brushin. Some guys have a talent for that, I dont.
I really would like to airbrush though , I think the finish would have been better on this , one day I’ll learn how to use one
