Finished 1/48th Trumpeter Welliongton bomber [pics]

Hi all,
Been hard at work making this model for a Gent’ who wanted a wellington built as it was in his dads sqd codes, It’s from 91 sqd Wellesbourne Mountford OTR, the wellington is the trumpeter 1/48th jobbie, the props are removable so you can take all the engine covers off to show the engine ‘off’ and made some scratch built spinners.

The Trumpeter 1/48th Vickers Wellington

thanks for looking

Nicely done Ian! I always enjoy seeing your work, and was very excited when I saw this post thinking WOOHOO!!! another British bomber from Ian! [:D]

Thanks for the pics, very nice work indeed.

Good job, Ian. I like the removable cowls. I’d like to have one of these in the case someday.

Very nice clean build. Well done [tup].

Regards, Rick

So are you going to weather the Wimpy some more? I hear the geodesic patterns in the wings and fuselage show more when the metal gets stressed and presses onto the frames which expose the framework. Like on old steamers that once they get older the framework shows. So I figure that a wash should show those diamonds.[:P]

Those patterns were a badge of honor on the Wimpy.

Real beauty you have there. One I want to add eventually myself. Nicely done.

A very nice model. You did an excellant job on the build.

Now she is a grand work of art! Very well done! I’ll have to pick that one up myself[8D]

Ian, I imagine you must have a pretty large residence! Most people count their builds by how many kits’ they’ve completed in a year, but I imagine you can use sq. meters to gauge your success! Another wonderful large bomber you have there. Thanks for sharing.

Great work Ian.

Beautiful work on the WImpy Ian.

Hi Mike,

I haven’t weathered it heavily on the frames as this model was made for an old timer who actually flew this wimpy and he said it was fairly clean on the wings, so i had to make it for him that way.

A classic aircraft done by a classic builder. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Wellington. I did the Airfix 1/72 awhile back and enjoyed building that one. Well done mate. Really well made

Lenny[tup]

Great job man! I love it, exellent camo job too! it must be a big bird in 1/48 right? I got a vacuformed kit (nn brand) 1/72 scale for me to practice because I had never built a vacu kit and my dad got me a kit of a plane wich a wanted for long time… so he gave me this too so I don´t riun mi xmas gift hahah.

I will be very, very happy I finish it half as nice as your model.

best regards!

Jeremias

Very nice Ian. Top work once more. Thx for posting.

…Guy

Thanks for the kind comments guys [tup] Lenny cheers for calling me a classic builder you really have kind heart [;)]

Jeremias heres another one of my 1/48th wimpys at the side of a 1/72 wimpy [:O]

Ugh can’t believe I almost missed this! Kudo’s to Frank for mentioning it! What another terriffic piece of work! The engine details and fact you can take a look at them is enough to make me drool in envy! It looks like your specialty though and through right down to the research and uniqueness. I am certain your client will be more than pleased ! Wow! I haven’t seen many of these built up in any state. Is it easier than the Halifax? [(-D][#toast] Here is hoping you found those spare backbones!

Truly a Major-General work of art!

Luv at first sight!

Another awesome build Ian mate. Always a pleasure to see your builds, especially your 48th scale stuff…

All the best.

Greg

Thanks Greg [:)] Nice to see your on another forum [;)] Wait until you see my next 48th build its the airfix lightning and won’t be too long before its done.
