I’m Fatih, and this is my 1/48 Tamiya T-55. It has been a long project with a lot of learning along the way. I tried to keep the weathering realistic and restrained, focusing on operational wear rather than a heavily abandoned vehicle.
Any comments, suggestions, or criticism are welcome. Thanks for looking!
Hi Fatih, welcome! Your T-55 looks great. The detail level is quite good and I would not have guessed this is 1/48 scale if you had not stated it. I’m no armor expert, but I appreciate that you made the paint sheen slightly satin/semi-gloss rather than dead flat which is so prevalent. To me it looks more realistic.
I’m glad the scale wasn’t immediately obvious—that’s definitely a compliment. I also agree about the finish. I tried to avoid a completely flat look and aimed for a subtle satin sheen to represent a vehicle exposed to the elements and operational use.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it!
I’m glad you like the T-55. I really enjoy 1/48 scale because it offers a good balance between detail and display space. Hopefully it won’t be my last armor build in this scale.
Here are a few photos of the display base I built for my 1/48 Tamiya T-55. I wanted a simple scene that would complement the model without distracting from it.
I’m happy to hear that. The semi-gloss finish was intentional, as I wanted to avoid the overly flat look and keep a slightly more realistic appearance.
