so i got tired of waiting for my digital camera back so my girl took some pics with her phone, not the best quality but i figured Id post them, why not right. be gentle its my first real model
still deacaling, taking it slow cus with how much work I have put in so far I would shoot myself if i screwed it up now. Im take the most pride in how i did the cockpit, its not par for the course as far a detail goes here but its not bad, but I will have to get my camera before I can show any of that
What kit are you using? And also, are you using any decal solvent? looks pretty snappy from the little bit I can see!
im using the revell kit, no solvent just dip in water and place. im gonna put testors dull coat over it. im kinda in a bind right now, out of work so dont really have the funds to get down to my local hobby shop to buy specialized equipment so im only using the paints, glues and tools I have in my stash. im getting back into the hobby so I have healthy constructive ways to spend my time. Havent seen the inside of a bar in two weeks, seems to be working pretty well so far. ya like i said i was really nervous about doing the decals so im going slow and steady. thanks for the kind words
Yeah modeling is a good way to stay out of the bars!!! Two weeks and counting, right? Great! Keep it up. I know it sounds silly but if you feel the need, pop on over to the odds n ends forum and someone will “be there” for ya!!! I’ve seen it happen lots! And good luck finding a job man!

I played for 15 years, got up to the national level before I took the hit that ended my career. Then I started teaching and made a pretty good living with it until the lockout made a lot of people lose interest. We need more fans! the same way this is the greatest hobby on earth, Hockey is the greatest sport out there

I’m going to be playing in an “Adult League” starting the 14th. The Ice Rinks around here have leagues. It’s pretty cool, there’s 4 or 5 levels and it’s very “old guy” friendly (i.e. NO CHECKING), which kinda makes me sad but i know why they do it. Do you guys have anything like that around where you live? Or is it a “never skate again” injury? And who’s your favorite NHL team? And why am I being so nosy? I apologize lol

As far as the hit goes, I was in the corner with the puck and I passed it up to the point then made a break for the net(a set play we used a lot, the D man at the blue line would one time it back in about the time I would be getting there for the deflection) I got there the same time as a large defenseman coming from the other side and he blindsided me made solid contact with my whole left side and which tweaked and locked my hips. caused some nerve damage. I walked with a cane for 2 years Im sure I could rehab but in all honesty im kinda scared to get back on the rink. Fear is a crazy thing when you are a kid you think you are invinceable until you need a cane and somebodies help to go to the bathroom. We have plenty of leagues around here and I have a couple of teams asking me to come back but i dont know. Well i started watching hockey before we had a local team and I really liked the way the red wings played back then but now Its the sharks so number 1 would be the sharks 2 would be the wings

She is kinda a fictitious plane, I wanted the red and silver and didnt really research any planes that would have sported that config. im gonna put the generic mustang markings on it and have it as part of the last priests air command lol. im pretty happy with what I have so far alltho i did a lot of the work before I got on to these forums so I hadnt learned a lot of the more advanced techniques but it was ment to be practice anyway so i finally stopped trying to go back and fix things and just finish it. im gonna have some more pictures up in a bit that will kind of demonstrate some of the flaws. I love the new sabers logo, but then again the sabers have always been on the cutting edge(haha get it…ok ill shut up) of jersey design. I loved the black red and white ones they came out with, and they were actually one of my advanced hockey teams jerseys

I like what I see… By looking at your build, it appears to be done by hand? I mean the paint scheme… Sorry boutthat. Am I correct and if so, I could not acheive such a finish if I painted it by hand.
When I fist began modelling, I only painted a few kits w/ brush and then my loving Sister got both my Dad and I a AB.
I dreed if I have to paint using a brush… Laughs Not sure why but I get nervous so way to go man…!!
By the way, I like your TLP Squadron… Pretty cool colours. So heres the big question… Who is the Commander ofthe wing, you or your girl…

ya was done by hand, i have yet to get my airbrush back from my ex, and even then I never really got a chance to use it so I still have to learn. Im the commander of the air chapter but my girl is firmly in control of the automotive chapter. next is a B-17G in similar colors but this time i will fill and sand. also I will run over and get my AB so hopefully the finish will come out better. havent been able to catch too many of my wings games but my sharks seem to be doing well, unfortunatly here in the SF bay area our television coverage of hockey is pretty crappy

Here in NY, sports is basically second nature to us… So finding a game is notto hard to find. Sabres play tomorrow nite as well. Hope they do better than the night before…!!

im acctually really excited, ive got a little money coming in tomorrow and im gonna borrow my buddies car for a little bit so me and my girl can run down to the hobby shop and pick up some neccesities. i have some strange feeling im gonna end up buying a kit, i think i want to do an Iowa class battleship and then im open to suggestions on what i should build. happy new year to you as well

TLP, your build looks pretty decent! Looks much better than any of my brush jobs ever turned out! In no time you’ll be building things like a pro! You just have to remember, and explain to your lovely lady hehe, that the only way to improve is to BUILD MORE MODELS!!! That’s the key!
