Man can you believe it has taken me 8mnths to built this bird…[:p]
This is Tamiyas latest master piece the Me262A-2a. The 262 was SOB.
I used a mix of paints from water base paints to enamels. The over all scheme was done by Model Masters enamels. The final dull coat was Polly Scales flat. Go figure?? I used Eagle Strikes decals which were AWESOME…!!!
They went on w/out any problems and when all was said and done, the markings appeared to have a painted on look.
At the time these pics were taken at Blackwolfs lab, I still had to attach the supports for the armorment doors as well as the antenna wires.
As for the base thats a whole different story…!!! The 262 is now over at Ace Hobby on display FINALLY…!!![:p][:p]
Excellent work! Is the engine an after market job or did it come with the kit?
I made an Me262 years ago when I first started modelling. Didn’t turn out to good. I now use it as a test piece when i’m painting or trying a new technique!
Hey Colin,
Nope everything came from the kit itself. Thanks for the kind words my friend.
Flaps up, Mike
Sweet Butz! Hmmm, that didn’t sound right…[:D] Really though, very well done! I’d like to see some close-ups of the cockpit and gun bay but from what I can tell it looks great too!!
Eric
Hey erush,
I will see what I can do about the close ups? What didn’t sound right[:0].
I like how the interior turned out. The instrument panel especially[:D]

Looks great man, hopefully I can produce something that good before too long. I really like the nicely done panel lines, not overpowering, but just noticeable, not underdone. Very nice work.
madda
Very nice, lovely and clean bird…
Hi Butz that 262 is superb i agree the pannel work is perfectly subtle, not overdone like some that i have seen.great work…Greg
WOW! Excellent work! Thanks for sharing it!
Mike, your Schwalbe is great! Nice job on the details. What did you use for the planking on the base?
Excellent A/C Butz.
Butz,
Excellent. Thanks for sharing.
Fuzzy
Geez, looks familiar…
If ya’ll want to see some more work by Butz head on over to my website and hit the 'More Snapshots" page…
Fade to Black…
First off thank you for the kind words fellas…!!![:I][:)]
Maddafinga,
You can do anything if you put your mind to it…!! It just takes practice and time but most of all PATIENCE my good man[:p]
Believe me it took me a lot to get where I’m at and I still feel I’m not at that level yet? In our life time do you think we will ever get to that level of excellence?
Hey Keyworth,
I used 1/4" wide by 1/16" thick(foot long give or take) balsa wood. To get the tones I used “scale” black as a base coat(actually I set up the planks then painted the entier piece all at once).
After that I went back over it w/ earth brown thinned quite a bit. Its funny this was the first planking I did w/out doing any weather except by using the air brush!!.
I was glad to be done w/ the cutting since it took me almost 2 hrs to complete. Base over all was done in about two days.
gregers,
I too was pleased on how the panels turned out. Again I used the “smudge was” that Paul Boyer did a while back in FSM. For the wash I used “scale” black.
The out come was lighter for some reason compared to my D-520 which I used the same wash solution!!
Over all the 262 is one of my favorite pieces but it also comes w/ being dropped twice on its nose from an altitude of about 5’[:p][B)][:0]
If you have any question I’ll be glad to help and also if I have any I’m sure someone here could lend me a helping hand[:)].

Hey erush,
I get it now… sweet butz[:p][:p][:p][:p][:p][:p] Too funny my friend!

Great job!!! Do you have close ups for the nose gun panel? How about the cockpit?
Hey markuz226,
Thank you too kindly. Ya know your the second or third person who has asked me about close ups of the gun bay and cockpit.
I’ll see what I can do K…!!
Kolja94,
Your most welcome…!! Its a pleasure sharing w/ my modeling buds and budettes[:)]

Butz, awesome job. Cool looking aircraft!
Lee
[:D][;)] I still want to see some close ups if you can get them buddy!
Eric
I forgot to mention that the blue and red sqd band is not a decal. I was actually nervous because of the “curve” factor of the aft fuselage section and I did not want any overlapping of the decal.
Hey Lee,
I am glad that you liked my Me262[:I]. The only thing that I did not like on kit was the front armorment door section(the closed position).
It reminded me of how the ol Monogram kit had fit problems in that area as well[xx(]. Over all it is a great kit to build.
Whaz up erush,
I’m trying man…!!! [:p][:p]
