Finally got my compressor.....couple of questions

I just picked up a Campbell Hausfeld 100 psi max. compressor with regulator and two gallon tank…it is their silent model. Question is this:
I believe that it has a standard 1/4 inch fitting and I am looking at getting the Iwata Revolution CR. What type of hose do I need to buy? Will an Iwata hose work and will I need to buy a different connector to hook it all up? I also did buy a C/H moisture trap and still need to connect that as well. Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated! Also, what else do I need to buy, as far as cleaning supplies, lube, etc?

Chester,

I am not sure what an Iwata hose looks like on the end but I would assume that it is a 1/4 NPT on the end as most are. Maybe somewhere here with an Iwata hose could help you better there. I have an Iwata but it has a quick connect on it and fits on my Badger hose.
As far as cleaning supplies that depends on what you will be spraying.
If you are going to use enamels then I would get some cheap lacquer thinner at a hardware store or Walmart and use that for cleaning. If you want to spray acrylics then you can mix 2 parts filtered water, 1 part Simple Green, and 1 part Windex and put that in a squirt bottle to use as your airbrush cleaner.
Some people use Q-tips and pipe cleaners for cleaning their airbrushes but you have to be careful with them as the pipe cleaners especially can leave lint inside the airbrush when cleaning and that can lead to spraying problems just when you are trying to paint something.
I prefer the Airbrusher’s Brushes that they sell at Dixie Art, Coast Airbrush and BearAir. They are nylon brushes that are impervious to lacquer thinner and the set comes with several sizes to clean the entire airbrush practically.
I would definitely buy some airbrush lube also as it smooths the action of the airbrush and helps eliminate paint drying in the airbrush.
Both Badger Needle Juice and Medea Super Lube are good so use either one.

I hope this helps

yep, 1/4 inch at the end, you need either the iwata braided, the iwata normal with adaptor, or the badger with adaptor and another adaptor (compressor>hose>airbrush)

Where would one buy an Iwata or any other airbrush hose?

I see them on Dixie Art but since they’re all less than $45 you pay $10 shipping which is a bit steep. Since I live in a pretty big city, there’s bound to be a shop around town that sells one. Do most LHS sell them? What about Lowe’s, Home Depot or Hobby Lobby?

I’m thinking about buying an airbrush soon as well and might go with the same compressor Chester bought.

You won’t find an Iwata hose at any of the places you mentioned unless Hobby Lobby carries them.
Even with the price of postage it might still be cheaper than what many hobby shops sell them for.
