Finally got it done!

Well as many of you know, I’ve been building a Do-335. It’s the Tamiya kit in 1/48th. I have to say, I think this is one of the coolest planes ever. The lines are so awesome, and the sheer size is impressive. A lot bigger than the last thing I build (P-51A). So, here it is.

I had some issues as the decals were really thick. Some silvered kinda bad, but it’s not blatently obvious. The cover for the rear engine area didn’t line up quite right. I also found the MLG assembly to be a little confusing. But it’s a nice plane, I’d highly reccomend it! It was my first attempt at a splinter camo and my first attempt at preshading. I’m faily happy with how both turned out. Comments welcome!

Ah yes… the push-me-pull-me plane. Great job Max… I particularly like the figure in the cockpit. Any planes of putting this in a diorama at a later date?

I know what you are saying about moving to something bigger. The Beaufighter I’m putting together now is much larger than the Skyrocket and Texan I just built. But being it’s a Tamiya model like yours… what a luxury… half the time I’m asking myself why I even bother using glue.

Very nice build, Rad! Excellent first attempt at a splinter camo. I had to open the box to mine to refresh my memory as to just how big this kit is…now I can see why I’m doing more WWI…more room on the shelves.[;)]

Congrats again on a super job. [:)]

Good job on this neat airplane! I have this one in my stash but have no idea when I’ll get to it.

I love it! That plane is a weird duck but it turned out great. Thanks for sharing…

Really nice job max, looks great the figure puts a nice touch to it as well.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I’m not too happy with the figure… Well he was my first serious attempt at it so of course he’ll leave much to be desired. This plane came with a kettenkraftrad, so I want to build that and make a little base for it. I really enjoy this plane, I’d have to say it’s my favorite German bird!

Great looking Pfeil Radmax, the kit is one of Tamiya’s finest…Imho. Going to Toledo for the regionals??

Jerry

Well done radmax…looks real nice.

Max she looks great, you’ve done a great job, the pre-shading on the underside is particularly effective.

One of these days I have to build one of those 335’s myself.

Cheers

Nice work on a cool plane. I never realized the 335 had a bomb bay.

Nice job all the way around!!! Thanks for sharing…

You’ve done well. I like the preshading. Did you use Future before placing the decals?

Nice work! Cant wait to get to work on mine.

Bravo, Max. You really nailed the “firsts” (splinter scheme and pre-shading). It may have taken a while, but it’s well worth the wait. Great looking Arrow.

Nice job Max, I like it! [tup]

Wow you did a great job on this kit. I especially like the pilot; gives some more scale and realism to the aircraft. I never realized how good this kit is; guess I’ll have to pull mine out of the stash and start on it as soon as I get the proper paint colors![:D]
P.S. did you use Tamiya colors as recommended by the instructions, or did you use other colors?

Max,

Great job on this bird! The preshading came out very nicely, looks great all over! Thanks for sharing!

Nice looking build of a very unusual subject.

Swanny inquired

I sure did Swanny. It wasn’t glass smooth however. Don’t know why…

DDRManiac wanted to know

Kinda Sorta. Their paint colors? Not a chance. I bought Model Masters Acryl RLM colors. I did however use their instructions (Hellblau, Lichtgrun and Dunkelgrun) which was a mistake. I should have researched the plane more accurately.

Thanks again for all the kind words!
