Well, I have finally gotten around to purchasing my first airbrush. A Paasche H is is the mail to my house currently, and I’m looking forward to it. I got a Durabuilt 1 hp air compressor from Target for about 100 USD. It isn’t wuiet, nor specifically made for air brushing, but it has a regulator, moisture trap, and resevoir and is pretty powerful. I’m pretty sure the hose is 1/4 inch, though I need to check.
Is there anything that I should know before using an airbrush?
How big is the hose on the Paasche (in case I need to adapt)?
The main thing is be patient, if this is your first airbrush things won’t come out like some of the builds you see online here at first… in fact there is a possibility you might be dissapointed in the beginning. Just practice, maybe get a cheap model just to use the airbrush on and in no time at all you’ll see a noticed improvement… It’s not a huge learning curve to learn to do decent airbrushing, it just takes a bit…
Other than that, after you try it out the first time or two… come back and let us know how you like it! And if you have more questions feel free to ask them!
Good luck - oh and I don’t know the dimensions on the Paasche hose but if it is like most airbrush hoses it will be 1/4 NPT on the compressor side…
The first thing your gonna want to do is USE IT. [:D] I say hook it up and spray away BUT… use water with food coloring for that first shot on some newspaper or something then move on to paint. You’ll do fine. Can’t wait to see some models that you do later on.
Hey, thanks guys for the kind words. Since I’ve never used one before, I have no real sense for what size spray the different nozzles will produce. I’m not going to be doing any fine work, just camo, but I would like to know.
I have the Paasche H model and have been very pleased with the results. The best thing you can do, is read the instructions and then practice on an old model. You will get the feel for it in no time at all. One of the most important things you need to remember, is to work in a well ventilated area. Good luck with your new a/b. Be sure and post some pics![:D][tup]
Airbrush came in today! It’s really nice, and I was sorta of experimenting with some colored water to see what kind of lines I could get. It’s perfect for what I need. Before I start painting my Thundercheif however, I need to clean the basement [xx(].
