I have never really tried filters. I have two models that I would like to use filters on. 1st is the Trumpeter BR52. I am using Poly Scale grimy black, as it looks like a faded black. What filters should I use? I picked up an oil paint, in blue. The kit will be a solid color.
Secondly is a Late DML Panther Ausf. G. Two tone dunkelgelb, and Olivegrun. I have yellow, should I also use a green oil paint?
I think Doog wrote an article on filters but I can’t find it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark!
Here’s the link to it – you’ll have to paste it in:

A filter can be one color or many. It differs from a wash in that it is very diluted, almost imperceptible. It’s supposed to impart very subtle tonal variations to the finish. The more colors you use, the more subtle tones uyou’lll get. One color will tint the shade to THAT color. Keep that in mind.
I would recommend theblue for th eblack paint, but also a slight yellow and white. In the case of your Panther, I would follow my tutorial there…
Just one recomendation–do’t do it over a gloss or “Future” coat. The paint need to have some “teeth” (flat) to “grab” the color.
Good luck! [:D]
