Was wondering how many of you filter acrylic paints before airbrushing. If you do what do you use as the filter. I’ve seen some metal mesh filters in small funnels in the Micro Mark catalog that look like they might work. I’ve used coffee filters but they absorb more paint than they filter.
I alway’s filter all my paints and laquers.The best thing I’v ever found after being a paint sprayer for the last 18 years and trying all sorts of things from different manufactorers is my wifes old tight’s(pantyhose) or stocking’s,just make sure she’s finished with them first[;)]
I have been using a metal mesh faucet strainer. It’s available at any hardware store, plumbing section. These faucet inserts are very, very inexpensive and come in a pack of 3 or 4. I look for the smallest (finest mesh) pattern they have. This strains my enamels and acrylics very well. After straining, I rince them with the appropriate paint thinner and reuse them for future paint sessions.
