Filter Color over German Panzer Grey

I think I want to try a blue shade for the filter over the german panzer grey. Question is; what color blue? I am thinking of getting either an enamel bottle paint or perhaps an artist oils tube and use turpenoid to thin.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

You can really use any dark blue, but the key is just to not go crazy with it. Oil paints would work fine, and even acrylics would work well. Mix with a tiny drop of dishwashing soap to break the surface tension.

I will use oil paints, they give you a lot of time to work and decide if you like it or not. You can always thin it over the model or clean it. Acrylics work much faster to dry.

I’d use a dark blue, and I’d use the cheap Testor’s paints in the small bottle since they’re about $1.50 and they dissolve better than artists oils. You might also want to mix them up with some white and yellow for a spot filter. That also gives a very nice results and leaves a grimey streaky appearance. I used it on my Panzer IV ausf A and was pleased with the results.

i would go with artist oils too. there is usually a student, artist, and professional grade. i use the middle one, artist. one tube will last a long time. hobby lobby and michaels with the big discount coupons are your friends.
