Figures for 1/72 Revell Memphis Belle?

I was curious if anyone knew where a set of US bomber “in flight” crew figures to populate a 1/72 Revell Memphis Belle could be obtained? It’s a kit thats down my list right now, but when I build it it will be an in flight model with the wheels up and bomb bay doors open ready to drop and I want to build it with visible crew members in place if possible.

Might try to Google it, or maybe search on eBay.

72nd US aircrew are thin on the ground. You have a couple of CMK resin sets that include a couple of figures each. Presier do a set of I think 8 figures and then the Airfix set. But not of these have the poses you would need and so would need altering. It is doable and altering these figures is not all that hard.

Buckso! This is awesome, thank you! Exactly what I was looking for!

It’s funny because I had typed “1/72 bomber crew figures” into the Ebay search field yesterday and it brought up nothing. No matter, going to get a set of these pronto. Thanks again!

In the old days flight crew seemed to be more popular, but then that fad seemed to fade, and few kits or accessory lines had aircrew. I think I see them starting to return, though. I hope so- looking forward to seeing more.

Don, I hope so too. I personally feel that adding a well sculpted and painted pilot or crew to a plane or armor really adds life to the model. I’m a believer that you can weather a model all you want, but nothing makes a model pop into life more than a realistic looking scale crew in real-life poses manning the plane, tank, etc.

No problem. I bought a set of these a few years ago with a similar project in mind. They are still waiting to board their fortress…one of these days!

Well, I went ahead and got them. Now that I have found the crew, then my Memphis Belle is probably going to be my next build. I’ll definitely post pics of her once Im finished.

Well done Bucksco. I do recall after seeing that link that someone poste an image of these a couple of years back but I completely forgot about those.

I have to say that I think Academy makes a much better kit. You might look into that.

It’s not strictly accurate, the Hasegawa kit of an early F is. But the Revell kit is pretty simplistic.

That’s weird, because everything I’ve read indicated that the Revell of Germany 1/72 kit was the best you could get (some were saying that it was even more detailed inside than the 1/48 version.

He may be referring to the decades old Revell kit. From what I have seen of the new Revell of Germany kit it is the Bee’s knees!

It’s definitely a VERY nice looking kit, and will likely build up into a very nice model out of the box. Definitely far more detailed than the larger 1/48 Revell kit in my opinion, which is why I opted for the smaller scale over the larger even though the 1/72 was only a few dollars cheaper. That and the fact that I liked the 17" wingspan of the 1/72 over the humongous 26" wingspan of the 1/48.

I remember the old Lindberg 1/72 B-17G had crew figures. Maybe my memory is wrong.
