'Fighting Marlins' P-3C Orion (Arii 1/144)

Thanks, Cliff and Ranger! [Y]

I was down near Norfolk some years ago and heard the distinctive ‘thrum’ of turbo-props, and looked up to see what looked unmistakably like a P-3 coming over the treeline, but in a strange, very dark blue-grey color I’d never seen before. When it angled off, I could just see enough of an equally-odd looking low-viz roundel to realize it was…Chilean. About a minute later another, more familiar P-3 followed on the same flight path, in lighter grey USN colors.

Couldn’t Google it in those pre-internet days, so I don’t know whether it was some sort of joint exercise or an acceptance flight…it was in the late '90s, which I believe is when Chile first got her -A models…but that remains the sole South American military aircraft I think I’ve ever seen ‘live’ in my 65 years. It made quite an impression! [:P]
