It is a WWIII small unit tank battle book, when I first read it, I thought I had already read it. Then I looked at my book shelf and found a book called “heights of Courage” about Israeli tank fighting.
the author of Team Yankee thanked the author of Heights of Courage for insites into modern small unit tank fighting.
IIRC the first edition of “HEIGHTS” in ENGLISH was after Team Yankee came out [:-^] I guess he got an advance copy or reads hebrew[swg] at any rate I recomend both books, and team yankee is the first of a series
It’s a personal fave of mine along with several others of the genre. Definitely was a sobering read for me as a soldier back then when it was first published. I will have to look for the Heights of Courage book you mention. I have a very strong interest in the IDF and the Yom Kippur War.
I have read all of this authors books. All very good, and well written. I bought the book when it was only in hardback, and still have it. Great reading.
I’ve still got a copy, first run, I think, that I read every year or so. I also have most of his (Coyle’s) other books, either in hard cover or paperback, sometimes both.
Excellent reading. Also inspiration for an Abrams build still in the box…
I’ve always thought Team Yankee was a feel good story, but The Heights of Courage was hard nosed, do or die combat. It was and still is one of my favorites, I go back and read it every now and then.
